Question????? Is this normal?
I am 6 weeks post op and I have lost 30 lbs. I have been reading other peoples profiles and it seems as if everyone who had surgery the same time I did have already lost alot more then me I was 267 the day of surgery and today I am 247. Why is mine not comming off like everyone else. I dont mean to wine but... I was told not to work out everyday because I will build muscel over fat so I was for about an hour 4 days a week is it that that is not enough? If anyone thinks they might be able to help please let me know.
Hi Jennifer! Hugs to you!!!! Don't be discouraged, everyone loses at a different rate. Those of us who were much heavier than you will lose at a quicker rate. I would not worry about building too much muscle...any excercise is good and the more lean muscle mass you have the more fat you burn during cardio or fat burning work outs. Muscle may weigh more than fat, but you will notice the loss in inches if you do not see the results on the scale. Keep the faith hun! 30 lbs in 6 weeks is an average of 5 lbs a week and that is pretty spiffy! You are doing great!!!
Love and hope to you!

Hi Jennifer,
I know how you feel, I too have lost about 30 pounds in about 7 weeks, and my girlfriend has lost about 50 pounds in the same timeframe, but the difference between me and her was about 80 pounds - so she is going to lose her weight faster than me - I wouldn't worry about it, it will come off eventually, stay encouraged! And rejoice over every pound lost!!
Hi Jennifer and congrats on the weightloss! I agree with everyone else. Due to everyone needing to lose different amounts and our bodys being unique, we will lose at different rates. Dont be discourage, be happy! 30 lbs is awesome!!!! I have only lost 34 lbs since surgery (+11 lbs before) Total 45 lbs, but the last 4 lbs have come off in the last 2 days since I FINALLY got a visit from Aunt Flow! Also (wish I could practice what I preach) LOL My doc said to walk everyday. It gets the heartrate up and helps you lose without adding a bunch of muscle, while helping you stay a lil' firm. Hope this helps!

Hi Jennifer,
I would say that you are doing just great. Some of us lose a little bit slower than other, maybe because we have a little less to lose, or our exercise is creating lean muscle which weighs more than fat.
I had the same problem - I stopped losing at the 3 week mark (16 lbs) and just kind of hung there for a couple of weeks, losing and gaining the same 2 or so pounds.
Now, at 2 months out, I am down 31.5 lbs and 18.75 inches. The weight loss may not be what I would have liked, but it is coming off and I feel great. My exercise is walking and I walk 1.7 to 5 miles a day, generally getting in 6 days a week.
Just be patient (easy to say and very difficult to do) and it will work.
Huggs,

Hey my Band twin....don't worry your weight is down.
I started at 274 and am at 244 = 30 lbs....see we really are twins.
Try not to judge your success by others. We all are individuals, and will do our own thing. Besides it is THIRTY FREAKIN POUNDS....YAHOO
You could go to the butcher, and ask him to show you a lb of fat what a visual. WHAAAAAA HOOOOOO
Well, I think I win the "prize" -- I am almost 7 weeks out and lost about 25 lbs. I have been feeling the same way about others passing me by. And the last few days I have gone UP 2 lbs. Grrrrrrrrrr. MY "Aunt Flo" -- a/k/a "My Sister From the South" -- seems to have gone on a looooonnngg vacation... sigh.
