5 weeks out and exhausted...
I am right there with you crystal. I had surgery on April 27th, and i am tired ALL the time. I have been taking my vitamins and everything, but that doesnt really seem to give me much energy. I get extremely tired around 1-2 in the afternoon especially. Sometimes i even have to take a nap. I just keep telling myself it was all worth it, and things will get better. I cannot imagine with as tired as i have been, having gone back to work already. i hear of people *****turn to work at 3 weeks post op,,,and im amazed. i still have trouble keeping foods down, and i get HORRIBLE headaches. I hope things get better. From what i have been told by others, it usually takes up to 3 months for our bodies to heal all the way and for us to get back to some semblance of a normal life. keep your spirits up.
YES YES YES.. I am now 8 plus weeks out and am only beginning to feel energetic. only beginning!! I started exercising this last wednesday. I had been walking but only half heartedly. Now I am doing aqua aerobics and am enjoying the water. But yes, I was exhausted exhausted. It will get better but slowly. Keep up the protein that helps but I think it also just takes TIME.
I am exercising, and eating everything that the dr. says to. My surgery went fantastic...I was out in 2 days, and by my 5th day post op I was 100 %. I went back to work within 2 weeks...still feeling tired, but that is my only "side-effect". Of course I was tired before, but it seems that now I am beyond tired. I have found an energy drink on my website http://www.lewis-logistics.com (password: guest) that is caffeine free and packed with vitamins, I have started drinking it and I am feeling much better. I was going strong all weekend. While my husband was taking our Sunday traditional nap after church, I was cleaning the house and preparing for dinner. I suggest you try them... They tase good 0 carbs, 0 sugar, 8 calories...and more B-12, B-3, and B-6 than you could ask for.
I had one this morning and I already feel the pep in my step.
I just want to send out a "thank you" to everyone, thanks for the support.
Be sure your protein is much closer to 60 than 40! Since surgery, I've been getting in a *minimum* of 60g daily, usually 70-75 epsecially since I went to any foods, and I was back to normal energy levels at 4 weeks. My NP says she can always tell when patients aren't getting in enough protein, because they're always tired and lethargic. It'll get better, but getting enough protein will help it get better quicker!
Crystal,
Just wanted to chime in with every one else on this topic. I'm almost 8 wks out and still dealing with fatique. It has improved over the last couple of weeks - but I'm no where near what I used to be. Last night I was trying to get groceries and felt like I couldn't even make it down the aisle. A full day of work is about all I can handle these days. Every once in a while I have a "normal" day where I feel like I used to. I'm hoping that those days will start to increase as the tired days decrease. Hang in there - sounds like this is they way it is suppose to be. I had no idea I would be so tired for so long.
