Food has no taste to me!
Surgery: 4/12/2005
Of course I started out with broth, jello and Fruit2 0. Then I added cottage cheese, canned no sugar fruit, tomatoe soup. Nothing I eat taste any good to me! I want to feel like I am satified with the food I eat, but I'm not and I feel hungery about every 4-5 hours. Any suggestions? Also, running to the bathroom, every time I stand up. I have to return to work in 5 days! Help!
At 4 weeks out, I was eating alot of tuna salad and chicken salad. I bought those small prepared salads you can pick up at the dollar stores for $1.00, that have the crackers with them. I did fine with these. They were soft and mushy and approved by my surgeon ( 10 to 12 gm protein). It helped alot to have variety such as this. Now at almost 6 weeks, I am sick of chicken, sick of tuna, and eating alot of shrimp and salmon, and sometimes ground turkey (23 gm protein).
I ate my main meals, every 4 hours and drinking ( sipping ALOT) during the times in between, so the hungries went away. My latest delicious find is to have a banana smeared with peanut butter. I found Skippy peanut butter in a tube at Target, and I toss it along with a banana in my work bag and have this mid afternoon as a snack. I rarely use the full serving of peanut butter which is 2 tablespoon, just squirt a little on the banana and eat it. Its yummy and gets me through the afternoon hungries at work, the times in between lunch and dinner, when I cant always eat dinner at the same time everyday! I also had a very small slice of watermelon or canteloupe at this stage. I just ate a tiny piece or a few bites and it gave me the feeling of eating more normally.
Hugs,
Sandy
