DO PUREED FOODS FILL U UP MORE THEN FULL LIQUIDS?
Hi Julie. I started pureed foods last Thursday. Funny enough, I still can't really tell the boundries of my pouch. The doctor told me it was because liquids go through really easily, but even on pureed foods, I still haven't felt the sensation of being "full". Also, even with the band, I have no problems digesting anything chunkier, like chewed up fried shrimp or anything... which kind of wierds me out. Sometimes I wonder if I even had this done... but on the other hand, I'm afraid to pu**** because I don't want to get hurt or have something go wrong. Anyways, to answer your question... I can't see that it fills me up that much more, but maybe it's because I'm too scared to eat enough to make me feel that way. I dunno.
Hi Julie,
Soft foods will fill your pouch up quicker than full liquids do. There just isn't as much room for them. The liquids slowly drain out of your pouch while the soft solids have to digest. I can only eat about 3 to 4 bites and I am done. I don't ever feel full or hungry but if I eat too much or too fast I get a hugh pain in the middle of my chest that I thought for sure was a heart attack the first time I felt it.
My nutritionist told me to aim for 500 calories a day and said that it is very important to to make sure your food is soft/pureed or chewed till there aren't any fibers that can get caught in the tiny opening and cause you hours of discomfort.
