Chest Pain!
OMG!!! I almost died with severe chest pain yesterday. It was mainly on the left side of my chest, in the center and it was constant and radiated into the left shoulder. I thought I was having a heart attack. I was at work, and told my supervisior I needed to go walk, and see if that would help, sure enough started burping and it went away. However, it came back with a vengenance all night long. I realized it was gas, GAS X does not help. I was tempted to drink a diet coke and just burp it away but I didnt do that either. The only thing I can think of was I did have some watermelon yesterday, before work, and this is what caused the severe gas pain. I will not be having it any more in the near future.
Anyone else experience this and what did you do to relieve it?
Hugs,
Sandy
Hi Sandy--I've been having a little left-sided chest pain...not sharp, but more like a 'stitch' in my side. On the main message board I found tons of people who have this--often for 4-8 weeks post-surg and their docs tell them it's just part of the recovery and that they're not sure why it happens.
Made me feel better! Mine does not seem to be related to overeating, since it can happen when I'm hungry and headed towards eating time.
I am zausted from going back to work at 15 days, but hanging in there. I think of you since I know you're a hospital girl too. Hope it's going well for you!
Hugs--Sunny
Hi Sunny,
My pain seems to have subsided since I started back on my Zantac. Maybe it is GERD related and it just takes a few weeks to get straightened out. I just know it has stopped with the Zantac and I feel alot better.
This is my 2nd week at work. I work in a mental hospital and this weekend I will have to cover 2 wards, which equals to around 75 patients. I dread it, but on our weekends we have to take 2 wards. This will be my real test. This week I have managed fine. A coworker is also a few weeks post op and she and I go walking at night, we manage 1.5 miles a night. This is just before we get off so needless to say when I get home at 11PM, I am POOPED and ready for a shower and bed. Im too tired to even care what the scales say anymore
Hugs,
Sandy
I experience that when I eat too fast or drink too close to eating times. Or when my bites are too big and I don't chew enough. Throwing up relieves the pain immediately. Just make sure you chew food good - even watermelon - make sure it doesn't slide to the back of your mouth to swallow before you chew it to mush first. Also wait one minute between bites. Throwing up is not fun or good for you. Ugh! I had done good for a couple weeks, but didn't chew my food good enough at lunch the other day and it came right back up. Ugh! I hate it!! I'm 2 months out and still have to remind myself how to eat like a post-op.
