I am having issues sleeping in bed. I have been sleeping in my big comfy chair with my ottoman. For some reason its uncomfortable for me to lay down and I dont have enough pillows to prop up my back. Needless to say I also amd a side/stomach sleeper. This is very uncomfortable. I had my surgery April 25th. Any have this problem ? Any one have any advise ? Thanks Julian

Hi Julian, I had my surgery April 11th and was able to sleep in bed after week 1 but only on my back!! At about 2 1/2 weeks I developed an infection, a hard mass on the left side and severe pain!! I took my antibiotics and after about 3 days the pain was gone and I was able to sleep on my left side again, I now am able to sleep on my stomach again. Give it just a little more time. I had laproscopic surgery too, I don't know if you did too or if you had open that may make a difference too!! Hang in there time heals all wounds !! ~Jennifer

It's just another stage and it will pass. I think I was sleeping better at 2 weeks out and by 3 weeks I was back on my tummy and sleeping well. Hang in there!

Hi Julian, I had my surgery on April 26th. My surgery was the Open Micro-pouch. And for 2 weeks I couldn't sleep any other way except for on my back. I know that it sucks because it is painful and aggervating. The best advice I can give to you is if you have a heating pad put it on your back for 20 minutes and put your pillows like in a triangle position. Meaning, take 3 pillows and put 1 straight across on top, then put another one diagnoal from it on the right side and do the same for the left side. I know that this really helped me and my back pain from sleeping on my backside. I too am a side and belly sleeper. I still can't sleep on my tummy but I can sleep on my side finally. With some support from my pillow though. Anyhow I wish you all the best and I hope that you find a comfy position. God bless and I hope this helps. -Tifani

I refuse to sleep on my back! I was sleeping on my side in the hospital and have been sleeping on my stomach ever since I got home. I started with pillows and worked my way to sleeping without them. No pain at all!! I had open RNY on April 27. Judy

Hi Julian, I'm also a side/stomach sleeper. It took about two weeks until I could do it without pain. Sometimes I fell asleep out of sheer exhaustion or using pillows to prop myself up. This will pass pretty quickly. I don't know if mattress affects this - springs might make it harder. We got rid of our spring mattress last year and got a Tempur Pedic which might have made it easier sooner. It'll get better Lisa
