Hi everyone, I just had my surgery on April 26th and things are going pretty well. I have lost 16lbs now. Thank God! Now I am in the stage on Puree foods. I am a little emotional right now feeling like I don't know what to do. I have my binder here so that I have some information but there is little in it. Only 2 recipies in the book on pureed food. I was wondering if anyone else has felt like this and if they have any recipies on puree. To me the whole thing is just gross but what can you do. I know that is the sacrifice of trying to keep my pouch healthy and to continue loosing weight. Anyhow I hope someone can shine some light on this for me! Thanks for your time on this. Oh yeah if anyone wants to email me at my email address feel free...... [email protected] -Tifani

I had surgery on 4/19 and I would also love some recipies if you guys are willing to share. I'm already tired of tuna but I am adding boiled eggs for the protein someone mentioned to me. I would love any help anyone could provide. God Bless, Samaria

Hey Tifani, were neighbors, i live in South Lyon. I had my surgery lap RNY on april 19 at the Barix clinic in Yipsi. I am now on pureed food but find my self still drinking my shakes. Somehow a blended up grilled cheese sand. just doesn't sound too good. i have been snacking on a lot of yogurt and cottage cheese. I also had cheesy potatos that I mashed up with a fork. Those tasted good. Tonight I am going to try tortallinis mashed with my fork, The shake thing is getting old. So I am trying to make things for dinner that are soft that I can mash with my fork. Next week I get to move to soft foods anyway, so I can hang in there. If you find any good recipes let me know. [email protected]. The ones in my binder just suck!! have you been on the MI board? It's a great group of people, you might want to check us out if you haven't already. Nice to meet you, sorry so long. Kristy

Hi Kristy, Hello to you too neighbor! Wow SouthLyon eh? Not far from me at all. You are only 5 minutes from my house. Anyhow I will let you know if I do get anymore recipies on Pureed foods. This stage is actually difficult for me because I am soooo sick of liquids, runny foods, soft foods etc. I am really ready to go into a regular diet. Yeah the recipies in my binder aren't that helpful either. Only 2 recipies. I'm thinking, gosh I am on this stinking diet for 1 week....and only 2 recipies ha ha ha! Oh well....anyhow good to hear from you. Please feel free to email me anytime if you'd like to chat or just to make a new friend. Good luck and take care of yourself! -Tifani

Hi Tifani, I am 4 weeks post-op and on soft foods which to my NUT means blenderized !! Yuck!! I can do a scrambled egg, yogurt, refried beans or pintos and cheese from taco bell. I bought some low carb soups and I will blend those a little to make it smoother and that doesn't gross me out!! I also make a white chicken chili in the crock pot and it was wonderful so moist and soft I could eat it without blending it and it did not bother me!! I take 2 frozen chicken breasts, 1 large jar of Randall's northern beans, and 1 jar of your favorite salsa crock pot for 6-8 hours and top with low fat cheese and low fat sour cream it is very tasty!! You can freeze the left overs in small containers for snacks or take to work for lunches !!! This is a weigh****chers recipe, I do not know how much protein is in a serving but northern beans have a lot of protein and they will keep you regular!! I hope this helps you get through this stage !! ~Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, Thanks for the recipie. Sounds great! I will for sure try this at home. I appreciate you responding to help my "stage" go a little better for me. I just wished that the binder had more recipies in it. You know for people going through these stages for 1 week at a time you'd think that there would be more information in it for us to look back on. Anyhow have a great day and God Bless! -Tifani

Hey Tifani, I had surgery on 4/25/05 and 16 lbs is wonderful...keep up the good work. I know puree is difficult, it's where I am now....here are some tips that I have found helpful..... Use tomatoe soup with chicken added puree egg salad with low fat mayo puree chicken with baby food squash and chicken broth Use low fat riccotta cheese add a bit of salt and pepper to taste. I am always thinking of new things to puree, but find it gross and hard. Hope this helps you. If you would like to email me you can at [email protected] Good Luck Fran

Hey! I wanna join in this thread, also. I had open RNY on April 27th so I am right in there with the rest of you. I just started on stage 4 pureed foods. My list from the surgeon says: HIGH PROTEIN *egg white or egg substitte - soft boiled or scrambled with non-stick spray *cheese or cottage cheese - reduced fat or nonfat varieties *yogurt - nonfat plain or flavored, no sugar added, no fruit unless blended * tofu - soft, not fried POOR PROTEIN * reduced fat, cream soup made with nonfat milk and blended *cream of wheat or malt-o-meal, unflavored * toast, dry * potato-mashed or boiled with skin removed. Do not eat potatoes that have been fried. * dried beans or peas- navy beans, kidney beans, pinto beans, lima beans, lentils, and split peas cooked without added fat until very tender. Sooo . . . I have been having my protein shake split between early morning/afternoon, 1/4 c cottage cheese w/no-salt spice blend, refried beans or split pea soup, and CHEESE!!! I love cheddar cheese and found Land O Lakes reduced fat Snack'n Cheese To-Go at my local Ralphs. Each package is 2/3 ounce of cheese that has 60 cal, 0 carbs, 0 sugar and 5g of protein. I love to eat it in itty bitty pieces that I let melt(?) on the roof of my mouth. The taste is delicious and the piece lasts a really long time. I sure could use some recipes, though. What are the two that are in your binder?? Judy

Hello Judy! Thanks for sharing your recipies! I will try these. It's so great to have support from all of you whom have shared on this. I truly appreciate it so much. *The three recipies I have is.... for Breakfast: 1 soft boiled, poached, or lightly scrambled egg (mashed) * 1/2 carton of light yogurt w/ 1 scoop of protein powder of your choice Lunch * 1/4 cup (2oz) low fat or nonfat cottage cheese *1/4 c (2oz) of canned french cut green beans blended w/ 1/2 cup low sodium V-8 juice * 1/2 cup low sodium chicken broth w/pinch of Italian Seasoning Dinner * 1/4 cup of diced canned tomatoes, no sugar added, mixed in bowl with 1/4 cup cooked broccoli and cauliflower, and 1/2 cup low sodium beef broth. Season, blend, cook and serve. * 1/4 cup low fat or nonfat cottage cheese or 1 slice low fat or nonfat cheese (chewed in very small pieces until the consistency is of a pasty liquid) To be honest with you Judy I have tried these recipies and me personally I am not too fond of them. But I hope that you find you may like them. Congrats on a new you by the way! Hope this helps have a great day and God bless! -Tifani
