Had surgery April 25th
I'm home. Surgery went well. Unrelated to surgery, I spiked a fever and my heart rate was high. I went home on antibiotics. I don't do well with them. So I'm still a bit out of it! Not making my goal of 64oz of fuild. I really don't feel hungery (I should say, I'm feeling head hungery). Any suggestions (puree food, drinking, energy)? Thanks
I don't bother with trying to measure how much water I drink. I've never been a big water drinker and if I had to look at 64oz I'd never get there. I just keep track of my hydration by the color and smell of my urine (lovely eh?) and overall feeling of well-being. You don't want to overwork your kidneys if you weren't a big water drinker before.
As far as hunger, cream soups (strained) are great. They take the edge off the hunger. And jell-o makes sugar free puddings that are wonderful.

I am also one week post-op. I had my surgery on April 27th. I'm not sure if I'm getting all 64 oz either. I just sip water, flavored water, and broth all day long until I go to sleep. I do measure it out into 4 oz cups. Don't puree anything until your doctor tells you that you are ready to eat mushy foods. I start mushy tomorrow and I am worried about that. Good Luc****ep sipping!
My surgery was on the same day too!!! Hope you are doing much better - I am now. I don't think I am also getting my 64 oz of water in either, and I had this "endless thirst" feeling since I woke up from surgery and today it finally went away. I took the advice from everyone here and added lemon to my water and I must be on my 15th glass of water!! I am finally satiated. I understand what you mean about the "head hungry" thing. I too smell good food and it brings back longing memories but the funny thing is I really don't crave them since I am not hungry. Hope this part never changes.
