I haven't be able to eat solid food since last Tuesday when I threw up mashed potatoes. Finally called the Doctor on Monday and tomorrow I get my stricture fixed. Look forward to eating food again; its getting to the point that it takes me 4 hours to drink a Slim-Fast shake and that has trouble going down. Carla

Hi Carla I had surgery 4/4/05 I started out on clear liquids for 2 weeks went to soft for 1 week went to a little more solid for the next week and today 1 mth post-op I have alot of new foods to eat. However potatoes is not one of them. Potatoes have alot of natural sugar and that will definately cause you too Dump. I have only had a problem once and that was because I ate too fast. You have to be really carefull and aware of what is in the food you are eating. Thank God I have a Dr. that gives me info every step of the way. If I can be of help to you with your diet, let me know. Best wishes, Diana

Thanks for the note Diana. My Dr. is the one who said it was okay to have the mashed potatoes. Had the upper GI done this morning and except for vomiting during the procedure it went well. I did have a stricture plus an ulcer; so its back to soft foods for awhile. Carla 4/8/05

Hi Carla, My doctor's list of approved soft foods include mashed potatoes, rice and pasta. But they're not okay for me. The potatos make me barf, and all of the carbs slowed my weight loss to a near standstill. I'm back to meats (tuna & egg salads, etc) and fruits and low carbs and it's kick-started the weight loss and I feel a lot better. Good luck with the repair Lisa 254/217/150
