1st Plateau Anyone?
OK.. I have lost 38 lbs in the first 2 1/2 weeks but for the last several days. NOTHING.. UGH.I should be happy. I know it will happen. Just I want to see the scales move even if its a 1/2 lb a day or every other day.
I have increased exercise - trying to Drink more water ( thats HARD ) I do the protein first rule..but..
Anyone else have this 1st plateau problem yet?
Hi Christie,
You had surgery the same day as me and I have lost 10 pounds since. If you ask some of the long timers on here they will say you have not hit a plateau. I think they consider no loss for 4-6 weeks a plateau, it took us a while to get this way it will take some time to take the weight off. Before surgery i was in a weigh****chers at work program and the requirement was to lose 5 pounds in 10 weeks and the company would pay the fee, and sometimes that didn't happen!! If I lose 1 pound a week I will be happy because I know I couldn't have done it without this surgery!! Our bodies are a little stubborn at times too and we tend to hold water or hold onto what we have for fear of starvation, I am willing to bet that no loss for a while will turn into a significant loss down the road, hang in there !!!

That's interesting b/c I had my surgery the same day you did & haven't weighed at all. I won't know till I see my surgeon next week.
While I can't say anything re: the plateau (I'm sure many others can help)maybe you'd want to think about weighing less often (1x/week)? This way you won't see every little fluctuation that occurs in normal day to day living.
Best of luck,
A

i agree it is hard to deal with. i had my surg on april 5th and i lost 8 pounds on the pre op diet and 18 pounds the first wk post op then i didnt lose any for the next 3 wks then a day before my month checkup i lost 2 pounds for a total of 28 pounds. i was so upset to only lose 2 pounds that 3 wks. heck i even gained a few pounds back and lost them again. i was told that was water weight gain but it killed me to see that on the scale. just keep up the good work and it will fall off is all i keep hearing but as you all know it is frustrating to hit the wall and not lose any.
take care,
dede
Christie, I had my surgery on April 19 and have only lost 20 pounds. 10 was water weight from what I gained in the hospital and 10 additional. So i would have to say 38 pounds is awsome. Just cut out carbs and increase protein and also try weighing yourself weekly or biweekly so you don't become obcessed with the scale. I threw my scale away for that reason. Don't worry, more fat will be melting before you know it!!
Good luck
Kristy
