How did you get thru the 2 wk liquid only part???
My surgery was the 18th. Iwas allow ice chips, water and propel the first 5 days, now I can have clear jello, crystal lite, sf popsicles and broth. And let me tell you, broth is sooooooooo good. Although I've been lucky and have not gotten sick, that feeling comes with so much sweet stuff.
How about hunger? My stomach is 'growling" but I feel so empty and like I could eat a horse...ok .... how 'bout a hamburger?? I thought this feeling would go away. They say its just head hunger...but I've felt it ever since surgery. Any recommendations out there???
Thanks!
Hi karen
well i had mine done on 8th april, and im same, ive never ever felt so hungry so often, with a grumbling tummy , i suppose its because what we eat goes through very quickly to our bowel, so we dont feel satisfied , i also hear thats when your matablisam kicks in, soz spelt it wrong,so when thats happening its burning up fat,
take care
sue
Hi Karen, I had surgery on the 6th and was on clear liquids until the 18th. I sipped alot of water and diluted juices. It was a killer,so you aren't alone. Keep different koolaids and crystal lites and juices on hand. Put some into icecube trays and just keep changing flavors back and forth. I now really hate jello. Take care. Cathy D
Karen,
Two weeks out from surgery I was allowed to have a little bit of meat baby food mixed in with broth. It gave it more substance. I have not had the hunger feeling that you are experiencing. Even now with being a month out I don't feel hungry. I have to remind myself to eat or drink my protien drink to get my protien in. That was another question, how much protien are you taking in per day?
Nectar's Fuzzy Navel is pretty good and is my staple for my morning protien drink. Its a opaque liquid, but is easily digestible. My midday protien was the Advant Edge 1 carb protien drink. Comes in several flavors and is soy based, not milk based (easier on the digestive system). Comes in Chocolate Fudge, Vanilla and Strawberry Creme. I was given Ensure to drink on the 2nd day out of surgery and I had a difficult time since it was a milk based product. So, during my first week I drank Isopure since it has 40 grams of protien per bottle. It would take me all day to drink it, but I forced myself to get it in.
Perhaps the protien is what is driving my hunger away? I try to get in about 60 grams a day.
