Hi all! I made it through surgery very well. Had the laparospcopic RNY last Friday--the nurses told me I was a "model patient". Followed all directions, got out of bed the same night and was walking the halls the next day. Was it easy?? No way!! For those of you getting ready for surgery, please know that this is a big deal. I was in a lot of pain for the first 2-3 days. I went home Monday and am feeling better every day. Now I just feel sore, like I have done too many sit-ups. I still have my j-p drain in (my doctor's ususal procedure). It's a bit of a nuisance, but otherwise not a problem. One issue I am having is that I have no appetite and have to force myself to drink. I am on clear liquids and protein shakes only until next Monday when I go fo my post-op visit. I have been getting 45-60 mg of protein in. I have decided not to weigh myself until I go for my post-op visit. I still feel "puffy" and don't want to get discouraged. I cannot thank you all enough for your prayers and good wishes. I felt so supported going into surgery. The only terrible thing I had was not related to my surgery. Very, very sadly my only uncle (mom's an only child; dad had only 1 younger brother), died suddenly of a heart attack the same morning I was going into surgery. He was 68 and one of those folks that had no enemies. Just a sincerely gentle, kind, caring man who I will miss terribly. My parents were both in the surgical waiting room when my husband got a call from my sister-in -law with the news. My dear sweet husband had to tell my dad that his only sibling had dropped dead. Please keep his family (wife-4 kids-2-grandkids) in your prayers. My "re-birth" day will always carry a sadness to it. Take care all! Now I want to read all the posts to see how everyone is doing HUGS, Krista

Krista - Sorry about your uncle -- try to see your re-birth day as a way to honor him in your rebirth -- he is a special part of it. My Dad died in December, and I feel like he is living this with me in a way he would not have...sorry if that sounds strange. But CONGRATS on your successful surgery. We both made it, and will do great. I only wish I had your "problem" with having no appetite! It seems NOTHING will kill mine -- not even removing my stomach! HA! I'm already on pureed food and much happier. They just said I'm a fast healer. Be well! Marla
