One Week anniversary
Can't believe my surgery was only a week ago and I could feel this good. Off all pain meds since the day I got home and haven't had one bit of trouble adjusting to the diet. Best news of all is I'm off all diabetes meds. Blood sugar this morning was 99 ........... unheard of for me !!
Thanks to the great encouragement and support of the nice folks here and the skill of Dr. Aranow's team, I've got a whole new outlook on life. And don't let me forget to say a special thank you to those wonderful nurses at Middlesex hospital....... the best !!!
What great news Paul!! Good for you. I am off all diabetes meds too, and my blood sugar has been hovering around 120, which is awesome for me!
I am not feeling quite as great as you, my left side is very sore, but I got dressed today for the first time and walked up the street and back, so I know I am on my way to feeling better.
Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your journey.
Linda
That is great Paul! I am still on Tylenol with codeine, but not near as much as I was before. I've had some pain in my side, but the post pain I'm finding is from migraines/headaches. I didn't have diabetes, but I do have high blood pressure. The docs took me off the blood pressure meds, then put me back on. I get to tell them at my 1st appt on Thursday, that the blood pressure meds aren't even working anymore and I'm still struggling with the high blood pressure, which is probably causing the migraines.
I'm glad you're doing much better!

Congradulations. This is also my one week anniversary but I am not doing nearly as well as you are. I had complications and just got home from the hospital yesterday. However, I am off the blood pressure meds and having no problems with nausea or sticking to my problem.
Keep of yout good work.

To the "one-week" club,
Best advice I got from my nurses was "walk, walk, walk" which, for me, ain't easy. Increasing pain in my knees and ankles was a big part of what led me to WLS in the first place. While I can't do 30-45 minutes of continuous walking, i can manage 5-10 minutes 4 or five times a day. With warm weather here, its a pleasure to get outside. Keeps the blood pumping and I have to admit, probably accounts for my post-op vigor. Each day gets better.
Crushing and ingesting my meds is a pain and they taste just awful. Tried mixing them into just about everything but they still taste bad !!!!!!!! I'm also a big baby @ injections, so the daily injections of blood thinner, Lovonox, is a ritual I don't relish . 9 more days of them! Anybody tried sneaking a peek at the scale yet ??
You are right. Walking is the best medicine. I started walking day one and have been able to walk about 15 minutes at a time 3 - 4 times a day. I walked and walked the entire floor of the hospital and became a short of floor mascot. Everyone knew me from all the walking and would cheer me on as I did my rounds.
