Post op diet!
Nancy,
Save yourself the disappointment..........NOTHING tastes good ANYWAY! Even when you can start to have it.......... yuck........ pooey! I am 3 weeks and 1 day out, and I have only eaten 2 things that tasted ok so far. So don't make yourself feel bad by cheating because it will be a disappointment anyway! I am told as time goes by things do start to taste better.
It was such a relief to hear somebody else is having the same trouble I am with the first few weeks. My surgery, the pain, eveything was so painless.....by far the eating thing has been the hardest for me.
Don't have any suggestions except to hang in there.....it will pass too! I am soooo looking forward to creamed soups and cream of wheat cereal on Saturday!!!!!
Take care,
Karen (9 days out)
My surgery ws 4/5 and I also am amazed at the difference in doctors. I went right into full liquids after 5 days of jello, etc. I am in the blender stage and have no desire to leave it. Eating hurts. I found a natural protein powder that is not flavored that you can put in soups and mashed potatoes, etc. I experienced alot of gas pain in my 3rd week. I am so happy now with this surgery. I have lost 22 pounds. I also like the chewable vitamins from a Bariatric service. I also use a little bit of pntbutter in my chocolate and banana protein drinks for a difference. Of course this is ok with my nutritionist as long as it's natural pb. I use all my normal spices for flavor and cook my family dinners and whip up a little bit for myself. I set the table up and still take longer to eat than anyone else! Does anyone experience hunger? I seem to have a hard time eating the 6 meals I am suppose to- and getting in the right amount of fluids is hard. I feel like I am spending more time eating and drinking now than I ever did before.
