Pain In Left Shoulder and neck...
Congrats on your wls!!! Just putting my two cents in, but it is probably a little too soon for even pureed foods. When I had wls back in Nov 04, I was put on a clear liquid diet for a month, progressing to pureed food for the next month, and then I was able to progress to regular foods. "Pouchie" is still brand new and needs a chance to heal well.
hi marla
i too have the same thing, i am 3 weeks out this fri , and still get it from time to time, as you said its from the gases during surgery, but its slowly going, its like a stabbing feeling in the left hand shoulder blade, im actually allowed solids now , because im coping ok with puree the dietician said i can eat anything except bread , red meat, white pasta, so tonight ive tried a salad and i feel fine, but everybody is different, and just do as your doc says.
take care

Hello, I am 9 days out and had to be on clear liquids for 1 week. Now I can only have Full liquids like cream soups, yogurt, pudding and protein shakes. Now my doc said if I had any sharp pains in my shoulders to call asap because it's an indication of a leak. So call you doc just to be on the safe side. Chances are it's just gas but i wouldn't ignore it.

I came out of surgery with major pain in shoulder and neck. Since I have had other surgeries and this had happen before, I asked for a heating pad and pain medicine. The pain seem to lessen over the next couple of days. When I have a reaccurance, I get out my old trusty heating pad or a ho****er bottle. Sometimes the moist heat seems to help better than the pad.
I must agree with the others. 5 days out is too early for pureed foods. I was advised to wait till the third week out. However consult your doctor or dietian. I am 21 days out and am having trouble introducing puree foods that won't make my stomach hurt.
Hope all goes well. Saying a prayer for you.
