Back home and losing fast.

I had my surgery with Dr. Kuri in Tijuana, Mexico on April 18 and came back home on the 20th. I had a 3-hour train ride followed by another 3 hours in the car, but had very little discomfort. Although I get a bit hungry throughout the day, I have been able to stick to the diet, and it is really paying off. I am down 10 pounds in 7 days . I have had no pain other than minor discomfort at the incision sites. My second day back home, I was able to exercise on my treadmill, and the following day I mowed the front lawn! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything keeps going this smoothly as I begin to add solid foods to my diet. Barb Sanders soon to be in transit to new home in WA

I am glad to hear you doing so well. I just got home 04/23 and so far I am having trouble sleeping. I did sleep better last night and think it has a good deal to do with my being tired during the day. I look forward to getting out and walking. I went out today, but did not stay long. You really sound good and 10lbs in 7 days sound really hopeful. Shoot me a email so I can keep up with your progress. I will reply with mine. [email protected]. My prayers are with you in you continued success.

Way to go Barb. I also had my surgery on 4/18/05, but am not moving as fast as you, but I had the open and I assume you had the lap??. Worried about the mowing the lawn thing. My doctors said no va******* for 6 weeks and lawn mowing has to be more strenuous than that. Don't ru**** even with the lap.

Thanks Jacquie, for your concern, but I'm really feeling great and have no pain at all. Even my incision areas are no longer uncomfortable. As you surmised, I had lap rather than open - that probably makes a huge difference. As to our difference in weight loss, it's a very individual thing - I might lose more now but less later on, and it could be the reverse for you. In any case, weight loss is pretty much inevitable if you exercise (when able) and follow the eating plan your doctor gave you. Take care, have a speedy recovery and keep on being a good loser. Barb
