Home & 5 Days Post Op
Hi everyone, I'm home and 5 days post op. I have been on a clear liquid diet and was wondering if I could have sugar free pudding? I'm feeling a little run down as, I have an infection where my IV was in my arm.....weird, huh.
Just wondering if something a little more filling will help me feel better?
Thanks!
Susan S.
Are you on clear liquids or full? I was released on full liquids and was given sugar free pudding in the hospital if that helps you make your decision. I always say to stick with what your surgeon released you on but I started pudding on day 3 and it has never bothered me. It did help me to feel better, I felt full after a few bites. Wrap a warm towel or dish towel ( I had the same thing!) around the area of the infiltration, as hot or warm as you can stand it and keep it elevated. It will help draw out the fluid, reduce the sweeling and get rid of the soreness. Mine was tender for about a week.
WELCOME BACK!

Hi Susan,
Its just my opinion, and I am not a doctor but I think if you got in some protein, you would feel 100% better. I started Carnation Instant breakfast in the hospital so I dont see why you could not have that. I buy the sugar free ( in the blue box) and I mix it with Carb Countdown milk for a total of 17 gm serving. Try to get in some protein, any way you can. GNC does carry the Any Whey Virtually Tasetless protein powder for about $18.00. You can cook with this, and you can add this to jello, pudding and liquids. My energy level increased after I started getting in protein but keep in mind too your body is healing right now and it just might need the rest, so listen to your body and dont pu**** Hope this helps!

Hi Susan,
I just got home yesterday afternoon. I'm 4 days postop. I'm sorry to hear about the infection in your arm. I am also on a clear liquid diet, and pudding isn't on it. It's anything you can see through. They do have some clear protein powder that you can put in jello or in a drink. Isopure has one. Maybe that would help. When do you start full liquids? Maybe you can check with the doctor and see if you can start your full liquids yet. Just let him know how you are feeling. Good luck to you.
((hugs))
