Hi Lisa! My daughter is doing the cooking now, since I cant eat much of anything, I dont feel like cooking. She made spaghetti the other night, without meat, and used angel hair pasta. I ate some of this after I cut the pasta up really fine and I was able to tolerate it. I love fetuccine, so I may have to try this! I have felt nauseous like I was going to be sick, just once. I ate too much of my mashed potatoes and gravy and I havent had the desire to try it again since. The sick feeling itself was horrible. So far no dumping and I hope it stays that way! I just have one more week then I can move on to mechanical soft and then I am required to have 3 meals a day, right now I do good to get in 2! NEVER thought I would have such a time trying to get in food but I love it, sure neats overeating and stuffing myself until I am sick, anyday! Sandy

Hi Sandy! I'm still amazed that I dread eating. It's become a real fear. I had the experience with the mashed potatoes as well, I don't know if it was too much or too fast. Now I almost instinctively reach for a drink which I know I can get down and not bother me rather than try food. I am able to do crackers and small pretzels if I let them dissolve in my mouth first, so at least I can satisfy the crunchy/salty thing. I think my spaghetti problem was an old binge habit that didn't work out this time. Blech Lisa

Hey Lisa, Your not alone. I do find myself afraid to try more complex foods, and basically sticking with what I know is soft and will go down. If I can squi**** with my fork, then I will try it. Crackers satisfy me too, but Im gonna wring my daughters neck. Last night she comes in with hot wings, onion rings and a peach cobbler on top of it. There was no way I was gonna risk anything by even trying that stuff, this early out. I am running out of ideas so have no idea what I will eat today. Sandy

I tried mashed potatoes last night. Just instant ones with milk instead of water. Gave me protein & stayed pretty well. I'm not allowed pasta yet & haven't tried crackers as I'm still working on trying to get as much protein as I can. (Still can't eat that much but it's getting better). Hope you're feeling well, A _____________________________ April 11, 2005/Duodenal Switch Dr. Alfons Pomp New York City, New York

WOW jennifer your doing FANTASTIC!!! I never thought about Fat Free cream cheese! Im gonna get some, I love the sour cream and chives cream cheese! I will have to check and see if it is fat free but pre op I would take a slice of a thin deli meat, spread the sour cream and chives cream cheese on this, place a scallion in the middle and roll it up, put it in the freezer and chilled well, then made it into spiral slices. Good horderve for a gathering, but I could eat this now! I also use the Isopure supplements, love that high protein count! Im pretty much used to this now, where all the other protein shakes just made me sick... I have dreamed of toast but havent tried it yet, I still have about 6 more weeks before I can have breads. I have some cinnamon cream cheese, with some brown sugar and I guess I am just ready to tempt fate and see if I can tolerate it...LOL, but it would be good on toast! Keep up the great work! Sandy

You know what's really good? The double-stuffed potatoes in the frozen food section. The cheddar cheese, 3 minutes in the microwave - perfect!

I've had to move on to more substantial foods. I am absolutely fatigued beyond belief today with no appetite whatsoever and I started the B-12 injection. That was okay and I feel a little better. I had some tuna salad and the low carb canned fruit (with Splenda). I feel so much better. Still wiped but emotionally better. I'm pretty much cleared for anything I can tolerate so I try things in very small bites and if I'm good in a couple of minutes, I go on
