I am 5 days post-op and find myself at the scale every morning. I have always done that, and I know I will not be able to stop myself now. I was bummed when I gained 7 pounds in the hospital, but pleased when I saw it was gone in two days.
I am still quite sore, so I haven't ventured out to walk yet. I just walk around the house all day. My left side is especially sore, but the doc told me it would be because of them having to cut through muscle.
I am concerned that I am not getting enough protein yet. They tell us to stop eating as soon as we feel full, but until today, I haven't felt hungry, so it was pretty hard to know when I was full. This afternoon I ate 2 small spoonfuls of SF jello after I got the new full feeling, and let me tell you, I was uncomfortable for a while. I kept thinking, watch, I will be the one who stretches her pouch before she even goes in for her post-op visit!!
15.5 pounds in less than 3 weeks is darn good girl!! Keep up the good work.
Linda
Hi Linda,
Welcome home. And thanks for your comments. My husband swore that I must have gained about 25 pounds from the IV. I was discharged from the hospital on Friday, April 8, but didn't get home until Sunday evening. We wound up staying close to the hospital because we live about 3 hours away, not including waiting for the scheduled ferry. By the time I weighed myself on Monday morning, I was 6 pounds over my admitting weight. My husband said that I looked like I had an innertube around my middle.
Best wishes to you and good luck with your success.

Hi Cele,
My surgery also was on April 5th, I am also experiencing a pretty uneventful recovery. I would just tell you to get rid of your scale, right now loosing weight is just like the stock market, It's all worth it in the long haul. I personally threw out my scale because that would become my new addiction as to if I was able to loose weight that day. For myself I found that my whole days mood would be determined by that scales response to me. I weigh monthly at the most at my surgeons office. (I always try to find the lightest clothes to wear when weighing in...huh wonder if I didn't wear underwear if I would be a little lighter!!!!) Gosh thats sick.
Keep a smile on your face and your feet off the scale and enjoy your beautiful life.
Good Luck
Dan
Hi Cele,
My surgery was 4-1-05 and I "stalled" for a few days too. I refuse to call it a plateau cause I dont think I've lost enough to call it that. But like everyone said, it just lasted a few days and all the sudden I dropped 3 pounds overnight. I've lost 24 pounds in 26 days and I'm pretty happy. Just keep on doing what the Dr. says and I know this will all even out. Good luck!!! Jackie
