Pain in the left side
I am 2 weeks post-op and over the last several days I have this burning pain in my left side near one of my incisions. I called my doctors office and her nurse said it was probably just scarring. Does anyone else have this pain when they move around, get up from a chair, or getting out of bed???? Any advice wil be appreciated!
Thanks,
Teresa
I am 13 days post-op, and I am also having some pain on the left side right under my breast near one of the incisions. It mostly bothers me when I am getting up from bed or a chair. I told my home nurse about it and she said that alot of folks commonly complain of pain in that area shortly after surgery. And, that maybe that area is more tender than the other areas that have incisions. I wouldn't worry. Two weeks is still early. Your body is still healing. Give it some time. But, if it persist or get more intense, then maybe you should see your doc about it.
Teresa, I had my surgery on the 6th and also had this pain. I used a heating pad and lots of pressure even though it hurt. I also walk around the house several times per day. It was bad for a while but finally went away as fast as it came. Strange. It really had me worried. Try a heating pad and hold a pillow tightly across your tummy. I hope you are feeling better soon. Hugs to you. Cathy D
I got the same thing about 1 week post op. I called my surgeon and the nurse says that most people get it. A week later it is still sore and feels like a pulled muscle if I move the wrong way but it doesn't hurt nearly as much and doesn't burn anymore. The worst is if I roll unto my stomach in bed by mistake. i wedge myself between some pillows to keep that from happening but every once in a while I do it anyway. '
Do you have a post op visit coming up? I would ask the surgeon about it then. Putting pressure on the spot seemed to help when it was really bad.
I am 10 days post-op and have the very same thing !!! I have 2 incisions on the left side one is longer then the other in between the two my side is like caved in!! I am still on pain meds and thinking I am not normal!!! My surgeon reassured me that this is very normal in some patients, and he also let me know that one of the 2 incisions on the left is where they put in the staple gun, he did tell me that he had to beat me up pretty bad to make it all fit and trust me I believe him right about now !!! The only way for me to describe it is like a really bad cramp in my side all of the time !!! Meds help and heating pad too, I am hoping it will go away soon!! Best of Luck

I had surgery April 6. I have that exact pain in my left side right under my ribs. If Im on my side its worse. If I take a deep breath it hurts, I thought something was wrong with my kidney. Doctor sent me an anti-inflamatory med and it seems to help a little. If it doesnt get better he wants to take an xray. I hope its like what all of you are saying and its nothing serious.
Thanks
Maureen
YES! I too have a pain on the left side between the two lowest incisions. I have a searing, burning and very sharp pain when I get up..ie when I use that abdominal muscle. I have been worried but it sounds like others have it too. I plan to call my surgeon on Monday and maybe see him. I wonder if I pulled some sutures under the skin...the nurse said that area was where the MD had to suture the muscles..I will let you know. I am over 2 weeks post op and this pain just started!
