Older person almost 2 years out
I know most of you are excited about having the surgery, but I am way past that (21 months on the 23rd). I wonder about the rest of the people who have food issues at this point. I have them and need to vent about that. I stopped at 220-225 and hate it. But I AM NOT WILLING at this point to give up food, so I am in a quandry. More or less, I stay away from sugar because I am still a diabetic. I know my daughter-in-law and her sister (both had surgery before me) eat lots of sugar and their diabetes went away anyway. They are still not thin. I go to lots of support group meetings, but it is not helping. I also see a therapist and because of lots of abandonment issues, I seem unable to give up food also. At least that's the thing that seems to be my problem. I am 64 years old and that's another problem with this particular surgery. When you are older it seems to be difficult. But then of course, we had lots of problems before surgery due to age and much worse eating problems.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi Saundra, I am sorry to hear you so unhappy. Please don't give up, it was so hard to have this done and go through. Being older you have to keep the weight down. Its what will help keep you healthier. It's harder to lose when you get past a certain age, but keep the faith. Don't give up on yourself. We deserve to be healthy and feel and look good. God Bless you and I will pray that you receive help. Hugs! Cathy D
