April 29th Surgery Date
Hello everybody. Very nervous. My original date was June 27th. Doctor's office called me Friday and said they had an April 29th cancelation. I accepted with a great deal of excitement. Between the
tests and everything else, the process seems to take so long, but
then it's sprung on you. I am very nervous. Anesthesia scares me.
I have two little girls 2 and 8.
Hi Laurie.
I too have 2 girls 4 and 11 and I can understand and empathize with your fears. My gilrs were more afraid though than I was but I reassured them that all was going to be fine. And It was. I will tell you though that it was very important that after the surgery that my kids came up to see me even though I was not 100% coherent they really needed to see that I was OK. That is something I suggest if you can that you do. My anesthesia went rather well and that was my major concern also. I wish you best of Luck!!! I will also keep you in my prayers.
The Hospital stay was fine, I went in at 8:30 on Monday morning was sent to the prep room stayed there while they shaved my stomach, put in my iv gave me a shot for blood thinner and waited for my time to speak to the anesthesiologist (not sure if I spelled that right) and for my surgeon to come in and let me know that we would be going shortly. This all happened in a matter of 2 1/2 hours. The anethesiologist came in taled to me for a minute and stated that he was going to give me some medicine in my IV that is going to make me sleepy they put the little hat thingy on my head and I remember nthing until the 1 Am Tuesday morning very groggy with a pump in my hand for morphine to administer to myself for pain.
I will tell you that the worst part of the surgery was not even the surgery it was the GI test to double check that there were no leaks. I had to drink this Horrific mess on top of more horric mess and let them take pictures as I was doing so. Now mind you at this point I had not had anything in my tiny pouch at all and they were asking me to drink 3 and 4 big gulps of this mess.... HORRIBLE I was sooooooo sick after that test I actually began to cry. This was the worst of it all after about 45 minutes though I began to feel better my doctor came in and said the test looked fine and that I could go home. I went in on Monday morning at 8:30am and was home on Tuesday by 12:30pm in the afternoon.
