Well, I'm exactly 14 days post-op, and things are going much better! I was released from the hospital on Wed, the 6th and then immediately re-admitted that night because I couldn't stop vomitting and dry-heaving. Got very dehydrated. I was in til Friday, the 8th, and then released again. I was doing good, until about Wednesday the 13 and I started having all kinds of pain around the open incision. Went to the Doc on Friday the 15th, he couldn't see any obvious sign of infection or anything else wrong, so he told me to get back on my pain meds, and keep an eye on things. So, Saturday, the 16th, I woke up and had a very hard lump just above the incision that was about the size of a hard boiled egg. It felt as hard as a hard boiled egg still in the shell too. Later, I was standing in the yard admiring some of my hubby's handiwork in the yard, when all of a sudden, I had this HORRIBLE smell assault my nose, and felt a hot, wet sensation on my belly. I lifted my robe, and I was gushing a nasty, white *******tuff from the incision. I ran to that bathroom, and it quickly turned to blood. I just stood there for quite a while catching the drippings in a towel, and after it slowed down some, I covered it with gauze and went about my business, feeling much better. I called the bariatric nurse and told her what happened, she said I must have had a pocket of infection in there somewhere that burst. She said to keep an eye on it, and if it started to feel like it was filling back up, to call the doc. immediately, otherwise, I should be okay to wait until my 2 week check up, which is tomorrow. It's still draining, and I have to change the dressing fairly often, but, I feel much better and was able to walk a mile yesterday (Sunday) with no difficulty at all!! Well, that's my story, so far! Wow, that sounds horrible, but it does sound like you are trying to keep your spirits up. Hopefully, that is all the complications you will encounter. And, it will all be worth it in a few months. Good luck!
