Im tired this week...
okay i guess not getting in enough protein or fluids has just drained me this week. I havent been around much, cuz i have just been really tired and sleepy. I know Im not getting in enough protein, so I went to GNC yesterday and bought one of their ready to drink protein supplements. ISOPURE Apple melon. It was fruity and clear, not like a milky protein drink. It had 40 gm protein in it. It took me all night to get it down but I did! It is very pricey at 3.50 a drink! The cannister of the powder is 49.95. I going to taste test some of the other flavors before I shell out 49.95! Im working on ISOPURE Strawberries n Cream and Im not too crazy about it. I can still "taste" a powdery mix and it makes me sick. I KNOW I wont be buying the powder mix with the milk based flavors like vanilla, chocolate , strawberries, will try the mango peach today. I think Im going to like the clear fruity flavors better than any of them. The powder mix in the big cannister has 50 gm protein a serving!
I also broke down and went to Taco Bell for a cup of pintos n cheese. My surgeon does reccommend this, although not until he puts me on the soft mushy stuff which wont be until Tuesday but I felt like if I didnt get some nourishment in me besides drinks and pudding I was going to die! I could only eat 4 or 5 bites if that much and have the left overs Im working on now but they are high in protein so I gotta get it in anywhere I can find it. Okay enuff rambling. Just checking in and so sorry I havent answered any of you guys just returning! I hope this fatigue phase passes soon, your all in my prayers!
Hugs
Sandy
Hi Sandy
Get some rest and take it easy. Do try to get some walking in though, it really does help.
I've felt that way for the past 3 or so days but am starting to come out of it today - even got some housework done.
Sounds like you're doing good with the protein. Have you tried the Nectar line of protein? They have many fruity flavors and mix with water. I'm drinking the roadside lemonade right now and will buy the very berry cherry when this is gone. I ordered samples from bariatric eating but found the full size containers at a local sports nutrition store.
My doc sent me home on a pureed diet and those pintos-n-cheese are a lifesaver. I can eat about half and put the rest in the frige for later in the day. Cottage cheese is good also as well as the Carb Countdown lowfat milk. I put the Carb Countdown & a handful of frozen strawberries in the blender and make a shake - much tastier than the powdered mixes.
Hope you're up to speed soon. Take Care of yourself.

Sandy, it was good to hear from you. As I was wandering through the boards, it dawned on me that you weren't writing. So glad to hear you're OK. Taking care of yourself and getting your rest are the most important things. One of my biggest worries is that I won't get enough protein in.
I hope you have a good week. And I hope to post again later in the week that I had a successful surgery and am on my way!!
Linda
Glad to see you back. I suggest checking out the internet for your protein. I found the isopure canister you found at GNC for 49.95 on the internet for 28.25 and the shipping is only 6.95 for orders under $100 and orders over $100 it is free. And most of the time you don't have to pay sales tax on the things ordered through the mail. I found this at
http://www.performancenutritionals.com
I am at work right now so I can't check allstarhealth.com, which is where I have order from before. The shipping was fast, less than a week for standard UPS. Just a thought, hope this helps!
