Hi April, My surgery was one week ago as well on the 6th. I spent 5 days in the hospital due not to complications, but more with the lack of rooms. I spent the first 3 days in SICU just because of this. I still had to spend a couple of days in the standard room to get the meds inline. After arriving home, I have had ups and downs as far as wanting food. I mainly drink water all day long with some broth a couple of times a day. My other problems have been having a confortable place to rest. The bed is fine, but it gets tiring to lie there all the time. My recliner is ok, but getting in an out of it is hard. I am 6' 3" and weigh 400 lbs. so this causes most of these problems. Every day post op, I feel better. I hope it continues to trend that way. Hope your recovery improves as well. All my best to you and yours. Vince Blackerby

HONEY I AM 1 WEEK POST OP TOO AND YES IT'S HARD AT THE BEGINNING BUT THEY ARE LOTS OF OTHER THINGS THAT YOU CAN EAT THAT ARE TASTY TOO. YOU CAN HAVE FUN MAKING SUGAR FREE PUDDING SUNDAES, OR JELLO WITH FRUIT INSIDE OF IT. JUST KEEP YOUR CHIN UP AND THINK OF ALL THE SMALL CLOTHES THAT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO GET INTO SOON..... I'M HERE IF YOU NEED TO TALK.....

I had surgery on the 4th and I can totally relate. My kids have pizza and garlic bread and I just drift over to smell it. But I know I can't have it. I tried mashed potatoes after a week but no go. Wasn't ready. Today I took a Stouffer's tuna casserole, cooked it, added a little water and pureed it. AND IT STAYED DOWN! I'm so happy! And it tasted just like tuna casserole. Your phase is very temporary April. Very very temporary. You can start enjoying more solid foods in just a little while and in a short time you'll be able to try anything you want. Hang tough and keep reminding yourself that this phase is only temporary and it's your head doing the talking, not your stomach. That's pretty much gone now Lisa

I am also 1 week post-op, and I definately understand what you mean. My whole day would usually revolve around food. I love good food. But, remember that it is more important to love yourself. I tested 1 Tbs of mashed potatoes and gravy yesterday. Although I didn't get sick I felt really guilty because this is a critical healing time for the pouch. Today, I am back to all liquids. I was trying to get the shakes down too much which made me uncomfortably full, but I realized that i must stop when i feel the pressure or i could rupture my new stomach. I haven't had complications yet, and believe me I don't want them. Now, your life will revolve around you getting healthy. I AM HERE.
