I came home from surgery on Saturday. The upper left leg from thigh to knee tingles and gets numb. Does anyone have any idea what causes this?

Probably a result of being in bed for so long. It's a disc or nerve in your back that ends up going down your leg. I had it before surgery for awhile, sometimes I'd get a burning pain in the center of my leg but the itching and numbness bothered me. My doctor assured me it wasn't anything more serious than a pinched nerve or something. He prescribed steroids but I didn't take them. It went away on it's own. Lisa

Thanks for that response. I thought it was probably something like that. I will just hang in here until it goes away. Thanks, Karen

was yours open or lap? I have read on the main board, where this has happened to some after surjury.Sometimes the nerve is cut or nicked and I also read it is a temporary thing so keep in mind, it will return to normal but you may always have a problem with this. Be sure to ask your surgeon about it when you have your follow up. Sandy

You need to call your doctor and ask. Prob not a blood clot. but that is what he is there for!! Call him. I have tingling, too and it is due to fluid..he ruled out the clot but still...
