My Surgery Experience
Hi All!
Just wanted to check in and share my lovely surgery experience. Had the lap procedure on 4/6 (Wed.) and everything went well. At least surgically! I ended up with a roommate in the hospital that was at least 90 years old and vomiting constantly. Then, as if I weren't having enough fun with all of the gas pains and such, I started my period! (sorry to any male readers who weren't expecting that!) Anyway, wanted to post and say hello and share my lovely experience! I am home now and wondering how the heck I am supposed to keep self alive using the medicine cups that the hospital sent home with me! lol
Thanks for all of the iput and congratulations to all who have made it to the other side!
Welcome Back Amy!
Im still trying to figure out the medicine cup thing myself but Ive since tossed them and just learned to sip my way through, its tuff with the liquids so Im just working on proteins for now to keep my strength up. Take it easy and let us know how you are when you feel up to it.
Hugs,
Sandy
I haven't had my surgery yet so I don't know how realistic it is but one thing my surgeon advised was to by baby spoons (they have disposable ones at wal-mart for about $3.00) and to sip the liquids from the cup using the baby spoon so you wouldn't drink to fast. I have been practicing before my date and it's not too bad, kind of awkward but it get's the job done
Hi Amy,
My open RNY was last monday, April 4. I got home Saturday. This was my third bariatric surgery in 23 years and the roughest. I hope I get it right this time. I am moving slowly and not motivated to do anything. I am doing okay with food. I still need to get more protin in, but I haven't vomitted at all this time, which is a major improvement. I have trouble sleeping which is why I am posting this before 5 am. I hope this ends soon.
