Home and Finally Up the Stairs!
Got home on Thursday after having surgery on the 4th of April. Had to keep me an extra night, but glad they did.
I'm home, and yesterday I braved the stairs. Today I'm climbing them up and down and even took a 2 block walk! Tomorrow, who knows...4 blocks here I come!
Still somewhat tight and sore around the midsection, but each day seems to be getting a little better. I think my back hurts worse then my midsection from sleeping in the recliner! I'm hopeful today or tomorrow I can climb into my own bed and sleep comfortably. I tried to lay down and discovered I had a hard time inhaling deeply. Using the Incentive Spirometry to help me get past that stage.
Good luck to all the others going through or about to go through surgery!

Welcome home from another Fourthie!!!
Did you have open or lap? I had lap and these darn staples are very irritating. Other than that I feel great.
keep up with that walking it does wonders! I came home a day before you and have worked up to almost a mile.
Hope you get to that bed soon - it is wonderful. Once I could sleep in my bed I slept for 12 hours straight!! Would've slept longer, but my family was worried that something might be wrong and woke me up.
Things definitely get easier with every passing day!
Hope your recovery is speedy and easy for you.

Welcome home! Glad surgery went well. Yep, walking and using that spirometer is KEY post-op. Keep up the good work. If you find that you continue having problems taking a DEEP breath, call your surgeon. They need to know ANYTHING that is going "wrong" or "not normal" for you once you get home. You should be able to inhale deeply even though your abdominal muscles are swollen and irritated right now due to surgery. Ask your surgeon about that.
Welcome back and keep up the good work! You're off to a great start!
WELCOME BACK DD!
Your doing GREAT! The soreness and pain does get better day by day, this time next week you will running a mile at the rate your going I havent tried stairs yet but one thing I have noticed is the chronic knee pain has gone somewhere since I had this surjury. That alone is a blessing!
Hugs,
Sandy
