Rae! I didnt count the day of surjury. It is an exciting feeling and it kind of sneaks up on you. I packed way too much and didnt use half of what I packed. The key things to pack will be extra undies, pads (yes, this surjury does bring on your period), housecoat, pj bottoms, shorts or sweat pants with a pocket. You will have a jackson pratt drain and if you have a pocket in your pants it makes it alot less painful and easier to walk if this drain is in a pocket instead of dangling. I never used my t shirts or pj tops, I stayed in a hospital gown with sweat pants on underneath. I also had on a heart monitor 24/7 and the hospital gowns had a pocket sewn in to hold this monitor so I just used their gowns. Baby wipes is a must! well, it was for me Best of Luck! Post when you can, will be looking forward to watching your progress! Hugs, Sandy

Hi Pam, I had mine lap. My friend who is having her lap RNY on the 11th is using a different surgeon than I did. My surgeon uses the drain on a lap, her's does not so I guess it depends on your surgeon. Sandy
