I have a date! 4-18-05

Hi ya'll, I wanted to give a time line to help others with their journey. I have a long way to go but may by the ones getting started like me, will get a little encouragement here. 3-1-05 Met with Dr. Marvin at seminar, Obesity Surgery Specialists, Houston, Texas. (I live 2 hours away) 3-7-05 Went home and thought some more about this big step and called back and asked that we proceed. 3-8-05 Insurance verified. 3-9-05 Letter of nesessity sent. 3-10-05 H-Pyloric test done at my PCP to check for bacteria since I have a Hx. of ulcers and if it were possitive I would have to be on 4 weeks of antibiotics. 3-14-05 H-Pyloric test negative. 3-15-05 Dr. Marvins office called with great news of surgery being ok'd. test's being set up that are requested by Dr. Marvin. Cardiac clearance done today also. 3-23-05 Will have routine labs drawn and an EKG done this AM, then to the pulmonologist, then to the pysch. for eval., then to the sleep center for sleep study over night. woohoooo, I'll sleep like a baby after this day. Remember, I live in the country, so I have to get er done while I can. 4-4-05 Will have an EGD done this AM again due to HX. of ulcers. I hate this test. (Nurses are the worst patients!) 4-12-05 To meet at Dr. Marvins for H&P and also go over pt.eduacation. (diet- post-op) 4-18-05 Scheduled for surgery. I know that I have been lucky with my time line. I wish every one could go through this process with ease. Hopefully it continues for me. Huggs, Karen R.

Congratulations on your surgery date, my journey started in Oct. 2004, and my surgery is early April. I wish you a fast recovery.

Congrats on your date! May God Bless the whole process. My date is 4/19. ARe you binging on candy, etc or anything that you know you're going to have to give up for a while. I am. I told myself today that I've got to stop. What is happening to me? It's makes me feel afraid that I won't be successful because i'm so out of control. Robin

Well well....Gina, Karen, Linda and I all share the same date...That is too incredible. I on the other hand actually started my time line back in May of 2001 and had to give up and re-start in Sept 04 due to Medicaid would not pay for the surgery at that time, and had a lot of issues with my insurances paying for this now, but I am here with all of you and we'll be going in together. Congrats to each and every one of you. And Gina, looks like our Pre-Admission Testing date is the same too. April the 12th I have to go in as well.
