April 5, 2005 is the magic date!
Found out three days ago that my insurance had approved the surgery! I now have the surgery scheduled for April 5 and I am ready - also scared - now that it is to be a reality. After so many years (I'm 55) of being overweight, I can't believe that my life is about to change - and so much so for the better.
N(ap4)G - Thanks for the applause. It's nice to see that someone about the same age is ready to go through with this too.
In reading other people's profiles, it seems like I have had a real easy time getting approval from the insurance company and getting through the required tests. I'm going through the WISH Center and they provide just about all of the testing that you need. I did have to get a chest x-ray and a note from my primary and a report from the colonoscopy I had done a year ago, but that was it. Made the decision to look into WLS in January, had a consultation and evaluation (with the various testings) at the end of January. The WISH Center contacted my insurance and got approval within a month. I am scheduled for pre-op on March 28 and for surgery a week later.
Best wishes to you and happy thoughts for successful start of a new life.
The 5th of April will be here before you know it. I got the actual written copy from my insurance company letting me know that I had been approved (I'd already been informed by the Dr's office) and wouldn't you know it - my stomach started doing flip-flops again. I'm really excited to start this journey as I'm sure you are too.
Best wishes to you and may your surgeon's hands be swift and steady.
