Got my psych. evaluation today. He said I sounded ok, and the report will be at Dr. in a couple days.

I had to get my psych eval, nutritionist, sleep study and bloodwork all done BEFORE my letter was submitted to insurance - I got my date after all of that was done and was approved. I guess different docs do things differently. Now I am going to support groups and physical therapy 3 x a week (to exercise) preoperatively. Have to have a few more tests like chest x-ray and blood work before my date (April 18th) but, I think that's all I have left to do medically. Glad you "passed" the psych test LOL - Isn't that so nervewracking? I was SURE they would tell me I was a wackjob and I was DENIED! LOL!! But, thank God that didn't happen. Now, I am just playing the waiting game.....7 weeks to go! Y I K E S !!!

My Dr. normally doesn't get a date until approved. BCBS does approvals in order of surgery dates, and did mine without, and after over a month with nothing..... and not appearing in ins. system and me calling the insur. said for them to call me, had already suggested that w put an estimated surgery date on it. I think the office did so I would leave them alone. I got approved the day they off. called the ins. co., and found out the next day when I called ins. co. After all that my Dr. office told me to schedule the appointments, and told me what to get. I have seen the cardiologist, and am scheduled for a chemical stress test next Th. I had a chest xray & saw the pulmonologist, who wrote me 5 prescriptions for respiratory problems that I have had for the last 3 years, and he sent me for blood work (to see if I had a hyperallergy enzyme in my blood-- bet it is there 'cause lots of stuff irritates my respiratory system short term when I get around it). He also set up appointments for me to see him again, and to go to a sleep specialist. Naturally, after I come back and tell DH that the guy didn't expect me to have sleep apnea, my husband tells me, "Oh no, you quit breathing really often when you are asleep." Naturally, he never told me that I do that even though I had told him that he does it. Mine gets approval first so you don't spend a bunch of money, if they are going to deny you. I will still have to have a pre-opo appt. and blood work then also. They usually set surgery date after they have everything else in........ (except for BCBS of La telling me about their procedure, I would be still waiting for a surgery date..... the two appts. he set are the end of March-- but the pulmonologist, psych., and cardio. are ready to give me approval.......... the stress test is a just in case because of my chest pains-- which are really respiratory with part of them related to GERD.) I will be glad to get all this over with. I REALLY DREAD the chemical stress test.......... I felt like I was having a heart attack and was going to Die from lack of oxygen last time.
