Hi Kristy,
Wow!!! You've done an amazing job! I hope you are proud of yourself. Don't let hitting a goal push aside all you've accomplished thus far.
I checked your profile...it doesn't have your bmi or how tall you are. How did you come up with your goal? I hit my goals, since surgery, mostly because my expectations were pretty low. I'd failed at so many diets. So my goal was to get rid of my co-morbidities (which I accomplished by 4 months out) and then to get at least one pound into the 'normal' weight range for my height (also reached at about 1 year).
Now mind you, that was 145 which is about 15lbs - 20lbs heavier than i was 10-15 years ago. But, i'm older and have excess skin issues and have had to babies...so I'll take it
Anyway, losing, since about 8 months out, has been a battle. I log my food and exercise into www.fitday.com to keep myself in check. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get too many calories in (or not enough calories to fuel your body...which then makes your metabolism slow down). You also don't mention anything about exercise. I work out 6 times a week (3/circuit training days and 3 running days...then sometime tennis or bike ride on the seventh day).
I find its a lot easier to maintain my weight with this exercise routine. I can eat a lot more (I like to eat).
Wishing you well,
Rachel

Topic: RE: Are we all falling apart these days?
I've had severe abdomianl pain for months and finally had surgery a few weeks ago. My surgeon found a lot of adhesions that were twisting my new stomach, old stomach, and part of my small intestine up under my ribcage. There were also a series of hernias above my belly button area that will have to be repaired later. Since this last surgery, my blood sugar kept dropping very low, something totally new. I found out last week that since he fixed the problem of the food sitting there for hours on end, now the food is dumping into my small intestine too quickly, causing a rise in insulin which causes a drop in blood sugar. My endocrinologist, who I see for PCOS, now tells me no simple carbs, EVER, for me. I can never have pasta, potatoes, rice, etc. I guess I feel like I've been good, I've followed the plan, kept my carb count at 10-20 per day for almost two years total now, and was hoping to reach a point that a spoonful of potato salad on my plate was okay, but that day will never come. My endocrinologist also told me that the issue with hypoglycemia in gastric bypass patients is a common one, which floored me because I've never heard of that being a big issue for us.
Good luck to you,
Rachel

I am so proud of everyone. It sounds like everyone is doing pretty good. It kinda bumms me out to see everyone hitting their goal. I was 487 lbs. last 4/1 when I had my surgery. I seem to have got stuck at 202 lbs. Can't quite figure out what I'm going wrong not to be still losing. I'm drinking my water and getting my protein.
If anyone has any advise on how to get down to my 160 goal, please pass it along!
Again, I'm sooooooo proud of all of you!

Topic: RE: B/R approved - now what?
Way to go Janie. I'm now between a 34DDD and a 36DDD. I go for my plastic consult on september 1 to see if I can get approval. I have a friend who was the same size as me and you and she is now a 32B and loves it. I just wonder if I will miss the girl. I've always had them. I went from a 50DDD. I just hate the sag.

It was a piece of cake for me! No real pain, just discomfort. I never had drains. I was uncomfortable for almost a month (but it was more my arms then my chest). I am a tummy sleeper, so it was real hard for me. I ended up wedging a pillow on my side so I could sleep at a 45 angle. At 4 months out I do not need a bra I used a sports bra for the 1st 2 months - then I was cleared for a bra & underwire (although I really do not need the underwire). a lot of times I just wear a cami type top under my clothing - especially at home. YES I can go braless & it looks/feels fine.
I am 5'4" and am an 8/10 on the bottom now - I wish my girls were bigger - but I can always get implants after I have children if I want to.
If you want to view my Pic's log onto www.picturetrail.com - the password is : transformation ... they haven't been updated in about a month - but not much has changed.
Good Luck!!

Can you tell me what it was like. How long did/do you have to wear a sports bra. I think my dr. said like 6 mo. He did say I won't go home with drains though -- which is a good thing. Also so exercising for 6 weeks -- which is going to kill me as I'm used to going every am. Is it painful or more uncomfortable? And for how long? Did you have any problems sleeping? Since I'm alone with my son, I plan on getting through this quickly!!! If you're far enough out, can you really go without a bra in a sweatshirt and be okay with it? I've always wanted to be able to do that on occasion!!! And wear cute pjs and nighties that my girls actually fit into!! I'd like my outcome to be a C, but it's been so long since I was there I still have no idea what that will look like. I'm 5'5 and 148 lbs now. Size 10-12 on bottom, but Large on top. Like a said wear a 36 DDD bra.
I came through my WLS great so am hoping this will be a piece of cake.
Thanks.
Janie (Oh, so excited!!!)
