Potential Period Problems...say that 3x fast
Good evening everyone.
I have a question for you all. As of today, I am still maintaining the 120 lbs weight loss, no gains and no more loss since about September.
I am not complaining, even thought I was a little bad this holiday season, I still managed to eat my healthy meals.
Here is my question. In January and February, I did not get any periods, they were non exisitant. Orginally my doctor told me that I would have to get to about 120 lbs to stop getting periods due to weight loss but when I did not get them in January and February and after a pregnancy test she changed her mind.
For the past three months, I have had little to non existant periods, where it seems that my periods are only about two days long if that. I am not complaining but I want to know if this is happening to any of you. Also I am experiencing the menstral cycle symptoms of like cramps, breast tenderness, anxiety, etc. I am just not bleeding as much as I did before.
I am 5'8, weigh about 138. I totally lost 120 lbs.
Any comments are appreciated.

Ugh! Let's nt even GO THERE! LOL
Since I was about 3 months post-op, I have had horrific periods..we are talking (not to be graphic, just informative) going thru a SUper, heavy duty, soak up the Pacific Ocean and have room left for Lake Michigan, sized tamons in an hour...overflowing...ugh...Cramps have been ok, but the first 2 days are sooo icky with all of the fluid making a mass exodus. My GYN put me on Nuva-Ring, and that helped for a while, but only a little while. I don't want to go to stronger hormones, bc of the threat of weight gain, so I endure. One option presented to me is to have an abalation, where, I believe, they cauterize the inside of your uterus, making periods lighter, if not non-existant. Thinking BIG TIME about it.
I am sorry you are having all of these issues, I guess it comes with the WLS territory, but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck. Being "normal" is so different for all of us, as this issue clearly shows.

I'm having awful period issues. I had a miscarriage last month - and I've been bleeding on and off since. Now, I'm having another period, I think. Before this insanity, I got random, very heavy periods. GROWL!

Hi Janice... I'm feeling tired and beat, but okay otherwise I think. I think I need to have a follow-up with the dr. though - since it lasted so long and I'm very worn out...

Lori, You have described my cycle to the T. I have all the symptoms on a regular cycle, but if I bleed its for about half a day max and very light. More pink than red. (sorry to be so graphic). For me though, I think its due to my IUD having progesteron (sp?). What kind of birth control are you on if any?
So the only change in my cycle since surgery is that it is more consistant and I actually bleed a bit. I wasn't bleeding at all pre-op
Ta,
Rachel
