Are we all falling apart these days?
I keep seeing post of everyone having difficulties these days. I myself am having some complications. Severe abdominal pains. I've had an Upper GI, having a CAT Scan on Saturday and then an EGD on Monday. They are looking for either ulcers or an inguinal hernia.
I wonder if complications are more likely at this stage of surgery????????
BTW, the good news isssssss.. that my little pouchie is still quite little. My gorgeous Dr. Beetle said that the pouch was as good as they could hope for. Very little stretching. It basically looks like a tiny bulge at the end of the esophagus (well pass the narrow opening that is). Which really makes me feel better since I've been drinking 5-6 cans of diet coke a day. I'm now trying to ween myself off. I figure it's probably the reason behind any ulcer formation. I am currently on Nexium and Carafate which seems to be keeping the pain at bay.
So How many of you out there are having complications??????
Donna,
I am not having complications, but I do notice some changes that make me wonder. I have been very weak lately, I am taking my vitamins but the dark circles under my eyes make me look very ill. I am also having dizzy spells.
Other than that I feel fine, somedays I fear I am eating too much but I continue to follow the rules, drink my fluids, take my vitamins and eat my protein.
I do not go back to see my surgeon until November hopefully this will get better soon.

I'm doing okay - though I have bouts of serious belly pain (thinking it's generally gas that just can't escape?!) and near-faintings, really intense dumpings sometimes... nothing "serious" though, that I am aware of.
I'm anemic, low Vit-D, and something else was up with my bloodwork- I go for a physical with my PCP at the end of the month, will ask her to recheck since it's been a few months.
Otherwise, I've been sticking around 144-147 lbs for months & months on end here, (with a few bumps up to 150)... and it's not budging.
Hope you're feeling better, soon!
Beth

Hi...I am sorry to hear about everyone's complications! I haven't had any myself, and my doctor said he can't believe how good my bloodwork was. On the other hand, I have a pinched nerve or something in my arm/elbow and my right arm is kinda numb from the elbow down, and has been since April! Ouch, that is making me miserable! So, I guess I am falling apart too!
I'm with you...Aimee
This is such a good post. I am glad to see I am not the only one having a few issues. I don't like to complain because I would do this again in a heartbeat but here it goes:
low blood sugar - reactive hypoglycemia that I can't get under control - only staying very very low carb works and I just love fruits and oatmeal
gas gas gas - I am always full of it. I had an ultrasound tech comment on how bad it was - she could actually see it on my pelvic ultrasound (no I am not pregnant, it was for something else)
In the last month or two, I have developed a dairy intolerance. It seems to come and go and I never know why but I haven't completely eliminated dairy. I love pudding but never under any cir****tances can I eat ice cream - sugar free or any other kind - sick sick sick
Lastly, my weight loss has stopped - I'd like to consider that a "complication" as I would like to loose 10 more pounds before my tummy tuck in October.
I've had severe abdomianl pain for months and finally had surgery a few weeks ago. My surgeon found a lot of adhesions that were twisting my new stomach, old stomach, and part of my small intestine up under my ribcage. There were also a series of hernias above my belly button area that will have to be repaired later. Since this last surgery, my blood sugar kept dropping very low, something totally new. I found out last week that since he fixed the problem of the food sitting there for hours on end, now the food is dumping into my small intestine too quickly, causing a rise in insulin which causes a drop in blood sugar. My endocrinologist, who I see for PCOS, now tells me no simple carbs, EVER, for me. I can never have pasta, potatoes, rice, etc. I guess I feel like I've been good, I've followed the plan, kept my carb count at 10-20 per day for almost two years total now, and was hoping to reach a point that a spoonful of potato salad on my plate was okay, but that day will never come. My endocrinologist also told me that the issue with hypoglycemia in gastric bypass patients is a common one, which floored me because I've never heard of that being a big issue for us.
Good luck to you,
Rachel
