I guess it depends on how you look at it ... My Dr.'s goal was 180 for me ~ my goal was 170 ... but according to the charts I should be 140. I am happy here at 170 ... but my body is still losing, so I will probably continue to wor****il it stops ... so technically I need to lose another 30# to be in the "Safe" zone, or the "Normal" range for my height (5'4") So it is all relative to how you look at it ... Are you below your Dr.'s goal? How did you get your goal? Are you happy where you are - or do you feel you need to still lose more? You look AWESOME by the way .... Sue 318/170/ AT MY GOAL

I still have 50 to go. I've lost 84 so far. I was feeling pretty discouraged. Just yesterday we finally got the pictures back from my sisters wedding this past October (took FOREVER!) and I look soooo different and I was only 20 pounds heavier than I am now. Still losing inches, but am so frustrated with the slow loss. Wish I could kick things into gear!

Heya Laura... For one you are absolutely gorgeous.... I am a year out tomorrow.. My starting weight was 370, I have lost 190.. So I am at 180... The doctor said the weight he wanted me at was about 160, 175 before plastics, mind you I am 5'11... I can defnitely see that my weight loss is slowing down but I am still losing... I just keep thinking to myself the more I lose before plastic surgery the better the results... My goal weight is 160...You are doing fantastic sweetie....Adn look you have all of us out here in OH world to talk to Hugssss Have a wonderful day... Karen

Hi Laura, I am pretty discouraged too because I think I am the only one who is 1 year out and haven't lost a 100lbs. There are some people who are only 6 months out and have already lost more than I have. I know I shouldn't complain I have lost 85 but because I'm so short( 4'11" o.k. really 4'10") My weight at the most should be about 120-125 lbs. I'm still flucuating between 165 and 168 and have been there since February so I am definetly on a plateau and I wonder has my body stopped for good? My own personal goal is 150 my doc really didn't set a goal for me. I know I will get there eventually but I kinda want it now. Jo Ann

Laura, you have done fantastic so far just keep working at it...it will happen. I happen to have to go even farther...another 120+ still to go and I haven't made the Century Club (-99 and holding). I just have to remind myself that it took me 20+ years to get to my highest so if it takes me longer than a year to get it off...I'll live...albeit impatiently, but I'll live.

Hi Laura, I was thinking of how to answer this post, and then I read Sue's post and she put it right on. I'm hanging around 149-153 right now. So at 5'4" I'm still considered overweight. My surgeons goal for me was 155 so I'm under that...and my goal is 145 because it puts me in a 'normal' weight category for my height. So because my surgeon's and my own expepctation were pretty low (for lack of a better word). I'm right on target. But if I went by weight charts and society...I'm still a good 20lbs from a 'good' weight for me. I feel really comfortable where I am. I still trying to lose to get down to the 145...but its not a must. I feel I can maintain this weight pretty easy and I have my health back...so life is good just as it is. I'm having fun now trying to see how much more I can lose. Keep jumping Rachel

Hey up there Jo Ann ... as another "shortie" (5'0" even), I'be been wondering about goal weights, too. I started at 267, which was a tight 22/24 for me. At about 170, I'm a 10/12 (12s for the "girls" who went south but didn't leave altogether). Originally, I thought I might want to be a size 10 as my goal, but now that I'm there, I've gotten greedy, and want about a 5/7. At first, I thought that would be about 140 lbs., but now, I'm thinking that may be more like 155-160 pounds for me. So, that would mean that at 135-145, I'd probably be in a 2/4?!?!?! WHAT?!?!?! I can't even FATHOM that ... even sounds too too tiny! LOL How did you choose your goal weight? My doctor won't give me one (for whatever reason), and I don't know what to set the goal at, because I've never been this small as an adult. BUT ... do you REALLY think we need to be as small as 125? (ESPECIALLY as "sistas"?). I'm thinking that that would be WAAAYYYY to small for me. I know it's a personal decision based on age/genetics/etc., but how should we vertically challenged (and "ethnic") people like Jo Ann and I should set goal weights, as compared to say, someone who is 5'7"? Just curious. Staci LapBand 267/171/135-145???
