Any advice for a stalled loser?
Hi - I'm looking for advice for my husband. WE both had GBS and today is his 1 yr anniversary. He's done well up to a point. He stopped losing wt at 80 lbs off. Seems like no matter how little or much he eats he just doesn't lose. But then he doesn't gain either.
Do you all find that by increasing the amount of protein helps? Is it more water? How about activity. He's joined a gym but can't work out well due to the hanging belly creating numbness and pain in the tops of his thighs. I've started him on Whey Protein shakes at work or a protein bar so that he gets protein in rather than grabbing a carb from the vending machine between bkft and lunch. But he's only just started them so no results yet.
We have an appt today with the surgeon for our regular check up. I'm going to ask some hard questions and not let him put us off anylonger. I think perhaps an upper GI is in order to see if the stomach is still pouched properly.
Any advice or insights you can give us would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance from a new member!

We're twins - my husband had surgery on 5/10/2004 (and me on 4/5/2004) He's losing really well right now - he actually just passed me up in loss totals - and we're five weeks apart...
This is how he eats, not that it may make any difference, because eating like this doesn't work for ME, ..
Here's my husbands' day:
Breakfast-
4 thin slices bacon, cooked crisp
8 oz Light & Healthy OJ (with vitamins)
Snack-
Peanuts or Glenny's Slim Carb Bar - Chocolate
Lunch-
1 slice High Protein/Low Carb Bread
2 oz turkey or tuna
Mayo
Snack-
Glenny's Slim Carb Bar - Chocolate
Dinner-
Smart Ones Low Carb Frozen Dinner (or protein out of whatever dinner I cook...plus couple of bites veggie/carb)
Snack-
1 slice High Protein/Low Carb Bread
2 oz tuna
Mayo
or- a real snack, like low carb cookies, etc...
Liquids-
He drinks diet iced tea, crystal light, skim milk, light & healthy oj, diet lemonade, etc...
I'd say it's about 1000 cals most days... or slightly higher?
He's lost about 154-156 lbs since May 10th, 2004....

There is no point at which you can say,
"Well, I'm successful now. I might as well take a nap."
