Balance question
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has noticed that they are kind of "off balance" kind of like a alchol buzz. I think its because I have lost over 100 pounds and its just my body having a hard time getting used to not having to carry around all the extra weight.
I already had balance problems in my past, I had hydrocephalous after spine surgery and almost died, the doctor placed a shunt in my scull to releave pressure ever since then I was having balace problems and walked with a cane.
I have not used my cane in months now, and my balance was so much better but in the last week I have noticed some slight problems. this may be due to the Ritalin my doctor put me one of ADD. No one but me has noticed this problem.
Thanks
Donna
Donna-
It could very well be related to the Ritalin, especially if you're new to stimulant meds. I took Ritalin back as a teen, and I was always "buzzing" in one way or another. I've considered going back on it now, but I've been afraid it might trigger too much anxiety/jitteriness now that I'm an adult living with three overly excited children...
Otherwise, have you recently had a cold/sinus infection/ear infection? Could be as simple as that--- that your balance is off.
I would definitely check with your neurologist, though, since you've got such a history of medical issues.

Donna,
I have never had buzz like symptoms unless I really did drink alcohol, but i do feel that my equalibrium has me off balance, especially at times when I stand up. I am not sure what it is from. I mentioned it briefly to my doctor but he really did not answer me. I guess he felt that it did not warrant a referral to a specialist so I am fine.
