I work with ESL students and we were talking about astronauts and how they need to be in shpae. What does "being in shape" mean to an ESL student ? So I explained that it means excercising, eating the right foods, not being fat(can understand this concept better than saying not being overweight), and not being too skinny. My student said "You mean like you?" "NOt fat!!" Oh what a wonderful thing to hear. Made my day!!! Mechelle 283/168/140

I teach 3rd grade too, and I looovvve them so much! I got a comment from one a few weeks ago too, she said "Wow, you're so skinny!" when I was showing my "laterals" during math. I never want to be anything other than a 3rd grade teacher! Aimee
