So hoow many carbs, fats????
That is how many carbs and fat should be our minimum and maximum for a day? I guess protein between 70 and 100, but what about the other stuff? If any one knows please let me know I am clueless. I have always tried to stick to high protein goods, but as I use fitday of course you see some of the protein still has fat, so
Maybe that is why I gained a pound, could it have been the popcorn, not enough water???? DK so back to basics for me as well. It seems this might be a common occurance for others too.

You will get as many answers as there are WLS surgeons. Even dieticians disagree on this.
All I can tell you is what my dietician recommends:
Carbs - about 130 a day
Fats - around 20 a day
It seems that a lot of people on this board, however feel that carbs should be kept closer to just 40 a day.
I guess when it comes right down to it, you have to make up your own mind.
I think several of us are struggling at this 9 month mark to continue losing. Hopefully we'll all start losing at a good rate again very soon!
I didn't have any popcorn yesterday and not gonna today - YOU?

Its maddening, isn't it? Trying to figure out this healthy diet stuff. I've decided that as long as I am losing (or maintaining at this point), I'm not going to count anything but protien. I try to get 60-70 grams, but am happy with 50. That actually takes up a lot of what I can eat. So I usually allow my self green veggies with lunch and dinner and whatever condiments are approriate for the meal I'm eating (bbq sauce, ketchup, gravey, dressing, marinara, etc). A fruit snack. Most of my fat comes from animal protien with meals and then I let my self have a max of two full fat string cheese snacks a day.
So not sure how much my overall fat and carbs are in a day, but it is a diet that I can live with for the rest of my life. My surgeon has us strive for eating anything we want(and 54grams of protien) in moderation. So far so good.
Hope you find something that works for you.
I tried to pin down my surgeon about this topic as well as number of calories. She wants her patients to concentrate on getting in enough protein, water and taking our vitamins. I did get her to agree that 30% or less of calories from fat and around 1200 calories. The only comment on carbs is that if it isn't a plant or doesn't come out of the ground don't eat it. I personally am not a carb nazi. I do watch sugar content. And I do try not to eat too many refined and processed carbs. So mainly fruits, veggies, brown rice, whole grain bread, etc.
I think we all have to find what works for us and we can maintain as a lifestyle. I think that is important, if we feel totally deprived we are setting ourselves up for failure in a year or two. Bottom line is everyone is different and you have to find what works for you.
Good luck!
