that no matter how much we lose, we will always weigh more than someone else who wears the same size clothes as us but has never been fat. Does that make sense? For those of us that were overweight for years before this surgery, our bodies built up extra muscle mass and bone density to be able to handle the massive amount of weight on our frame. Eventhough we can lose the fat, our bodies don't loose the muscle and bone density (that is, if we've been keeping up with our protein). Supposedly this all adds up to about 20 pounds. Therefore, I may weigh 192 but I look like I weigh 172! This makes sense to me because I was swearing that I didn't weigh this much the first time I was in a size 16! So everybody load up and go to your local fair or amusement park and dare them to guess your weight. You're sure to win a cheap toy for your kids! Ronda

I am not sure about that, When I was in high school my weight ranged from around 150-165, I wore a 13-14 juniors, sometimes 15's. Which is about a 10-12 misses size, even though I did not know that then. Now I weigh 160 and I wear about a size 10 ( I did get my saggy butt into an 8 though today). I am inclined to think clothes are more generously cut today than they were 20 years ago when Iwas in high school. I do know my family looks at me now and says ok, it time to stop loosing weight but I have about 10-15 lbs to go. Lori 258/160/145

Ronda, ...And here I thought that my skin was just mushier so I could squeeze into smaller sizes I like the bone theory better! But also, I do think clothes are cut bigger. But again...I'm sticking with the bone theory! Ta! rachel

Thats great!!! Also, according to some of my friends whose weight has basically stayed the same forever have told me that clothing sizes have changed. They can wear their old 10's from high school and when they go shopping now they wear 8's or smaller.

Well I definitely agree that when I was in a size 16 before I weighted around 175. I figured over the years the manufacturers just make clothing larger as the populations weight keeps increasing. LOL I like your thoughts though. 339/191

This is true, our bones are more dense and our organs are larger too. That's why I have undergone an underwater weighing process 3 times so far in the search for my goal weight. It's pretty trippy! And yes, I did go to the "guess your weight" stand when I hit my first goal weight. I was 260 and she guessed that I was like 220 (she was being NICE) Huggles, ~Lara

Ronda, Thanks for posting this. This is REALLY interesting. I'm at 151 and have 7 lbs to goal. Most people are saying - why lose anymore. They don't believe me when I tell them that I'm 151. My goal is at the high-end for my height - 5'5". 20 lbs less would make me about 131 which is probably right. I'm also wearing a size 4/6 which seems really small for my weight (trust me I am NOT complaining)!!! Where did you find this info - it's really interesting. Thanks, Tandi 246-151-7 lbs to goal

I've decided that I'm going to go more by clothing size instead of the numbers on the scale. That thing is evil! LOL Ronda
