good morning all, I'm writing to you from an igloo in MN. where the high temp is going to 9 degrees today! With the wind chill it will only feel as if it's -30. I have put on my thick socks, heavy shoes, long johns, long sleeve undershirt, and turtle neck sweater, so that I can wonder outside to my car and go to work. (with my gloves, hat, scarf, and wool coat on.) just wanted you to think of little 'ol freezing me up here in freezing Minnesota...and if you can send some warm weather my way Katie

Katie! You poor dear! I guess I shouldn't complain that it is getting down to 50 today, huh? I am sending warming vibes your way today!!! Good luck not turning into an ice cube between the door and the car! Janice

I would love for a 50 degree warm snap to come through!! Thanks for the vibes, I feel warmer already! or maybe that's because I have the heat turned up to 75 in our office and I still have my long johns and undershirt on under my scrubs. Katie

it's nice though to be able to bundle up and not look like the middle half of a snowman! (REALLY ROUND) We keep our house at about 75, but we have a corn burner stove that we use to help heat the house so somedays it's warmer. try to keep warm yourself! Katie

OMG- I'd die in your house! How are your heating bills?? I keep the heat at a constant 65 degrees and bump it up to 69-70 if necessary. It's warm today, (59-62 degrees! YAHOO!) though, so the heat is off... I'm always cold, too, but I can't stand a hot house either, .... -beth

Sorry it took so long to write back....I was packing my bags....i'm moving in with you...but only until spring The heating bill isn't bad because we heat the house with corn, but when it gets really cold out the furnace will turn on, it was on alot last night and today, but usually it's just the corn burner doing all the work. Since my DH is a farmer and we raise corn it really is no cost. Katie

C'mon over--- but it's cold here too! I have never heard of a corn burner--- is this like a woodburning stove? -beth

I'll be over as soon as I get off work!! Should I pack my long johns...I think they're my new favorite peice of clothing.... yea, it looks alot like a woodburning stove, but the top opens and there's a bin to hold the corn and a little auger that slowly puts the corn on to the fire. It's really rather neat. and it has no smell like a wood burning stove, it also makes a lot less ash...so less clean up. we've been using it for about 5 years and have saved a ton of money in heating! Cool- I'm for saving $!! This house has a spot in the playroom for a wood-burning stove, but it seems to have been done away with for quite a while... (we bought this house in 8/2004)... See ya later when you get outta work! beth *shine, baby, shine, 'cause it's all in your mind the life you crave, the love you make, said, it's all up to you and you just gotta say hello, hello, here I am, and here I go, I got love to give and I got dreams to live so- "hello..." - C.
