Just curious if anyone is trying to STOP losing .. I have lost 101 lbs since april 20th and I am now weighing in at 113 lbs.I am 5'2. On paper that doesn't seem too thin but in real life..I am looking fraile and thin.. I want to stop losing..but I don't wanna gain weight either. I have increased my carbs, and decreased my proteins.. I have also increased my exercise to keep my muscles from decentergrating (sp) My nutristionist says I am still slightly overweight..in a perfect world.. he says for my heighth I should be under 110 lbs.. WHOA.. When I was 18, I was 92 lbs..and I thought I was fat.. Now I am 33 , at 113 and think I am too thin.. when do our bodies stop losing, Anyone have the answer? Just curious.. Lisa

Sorry, I'm no where near that point. I would make an appoitment to see my doctor and ask him. This has to have come up before. Good luck. Also try a search here, maybe others have lost too much. Dianne 340/202/150

Exercise is a great thing - so don't take what I'm about to say as a negative Ok? When you do exercise you're burning calories - calories that are easier to get in now than 5 months ago. . but still not that easy. The simple answer is you will maintain when your metabolism balences out and you are able to get in enough calories on a daily basis. For me, I went and had my metabolic rate checked (I had a vO2 test - that measures the oxygen you burn to discern your basal metabolic rate). It is just now starting to slow down to a rate that I have a hope of maintaining on. But every time I exercise I have to figure out how to increase calories for that day to ensure that I can handle the extra energy burned. If you do more you get to eat more, if you do less then you get to eat less. 113 - you must be a stone fox at this point! Huggles and congrats, ~Lara 400+/208/190

Lisa- From what I've read the losses end betweem 18-24 months if you're still losing. I assume our bodies will just stop when it's time- but you do need to be eating *enough* calories to maintain your body weight. It's entirely possible at this stage 8-9 months out to eat more than enough calories to either maintain or even gain weight, which is why a lot of people fail at surgery and regain. If you're really concerned about not looking frail, I would suggest weight training, gain some muscle weight....muscle weighs a lot, and though your numbers may go up, you'll be stronger and healthier overall. Also, to make sure you're eating enough calories, from good food. What do you eat in a day? How many calories do you aim for? I'm surprised your nutritionist would suggest that you're overweight still, is this not a nutritionist from a weight-loss surgeons' office? Normal weight = 18.5-24.9 and you're at 20.2--- not overweight by a few points even! I would wonder why the nutritionist is pushing it. Anyways- HTH! -Beth 313/298/158/130

Hi Lisa, We are supposed to stop losing with our metabolism and our ability to consume more calories meet in the middle. The honeymoon period last anywhere between 1 year to 1-1/2 years...and longer for some. I would keep your protiens up actually, you don't want to lose muscle and just ad more, healthy carbs to your diet. Maybe and extra shake is all you need? congrats on your weightloss! Rachel

I would second the protein idea...I would NOT CUT PROTEIN....protein helps you maintain muscle mass....very important...I would increase my calories and perhaps add in a bit more fat.... I would start with as little as 200-300 calories per day and see if that helps....if not I would increase it every week and a half or so... But obviously a meeting with a dietian would probably be helpful at this point.... Also, I want to give you an atta-girl for realizing that you are truly at goal no matter what the charts say....that is indeed a major step and I hope I have that much will power and common sense when it is my turn to reach MY GOAL...whatever the number. Congrats on your fab weight loss!!! RAE
