I went to the body analyst today
Hello All!
I went to the body analyst this morning for the second time to find out how much of what kind of weight I have lost thus far (fat loss vs. muscle loss) and how my loss has impacted my metabolism.
**drum roll**
There are 3 dates:
Preop 10/24/03
1st Postop 9/11/04
2nd Postop 12/17/04
The results are as follows:
Weight - Preop: 388 (I had already started losing from my high of over 400lbs)
1st postop: 249
Today - 212 (my scale said 210 - but we gotta go off of his)
Total weight lost: 176 lbs (It's 188 when you include pre-op known high and 143 since my Lap RNY on 4/1/04)
Fat Mass - Preop: 184.7 lbs 1st Postop: 83.2 lbs Today: 57.9lbs
Lean Mass - Preop: 203.3 lbs 1st Postop: 165.8 lbs Today: 154.1
Total Fat Lost - 126.8 lbs - 72.0% of loss
Total Lean lost - 49.2 lbs - 27.9% of loss
True BMI - Preop: 47.6% 1st Postop: 33.4% Today: 27.3%
Basal Metabolic rate -
Preop: 2750 calories/day
1st Postop: 2433 calories/day
Today: 1981 calories/day
Goal Weight -
Preop: 261.0 lbs
1st Postop: 212.8 lbs
Today: 190 is an achieveable goal (top 50th percentile). 180 is an aggressive goal (top 70th percentile). He believes that I could potentially make either one, and since I have come this far, he didn't seem to want to limit me.
What does this all mean:
1. I continue to be successful at my goal of retaining the majority of my muscle mass. I acheieved this by walking every day, and working out regularly.
2. I have surpassed my previous goal weights and been given a new one that is either 22 or 32 lbs away (depending on which one I shoot for.
3. My metabolism is finally starting to slow down a bit. This time there was a rather massive calorie drop for a relatively small weight loss. I will continue to monitor this, as I get closer to my new goal weight. I am much less nerveous that I will end up losing too much. (To everyone who said - "your body will work it ouy" thank you, you were right!
4. I have significantly reduced my risk factors for Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabeties, Stroke, High Blood Pressure, and MANY many more diseases and causes for early death.
Thank you to all who have supported me on my journey. This is a LONG road, and it makes all the difference having good friends and supporters cheering me on. It means more to me than I will ever be able to adequately express.
