GallBladder Oh Oh
My name is Courtney Bromley I had surgery on 4/21/04 -108 lbs wow baby.
I have had a slight pain in my side so I had the Dr run some tests. I guess my Gallblader has to come out. So after X-mas I will scedule my surgery. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions on what not to do? Please let me know.
Courtney
Courtney,
Welcome! Congratulations on your weight loss! You've done great!
I had to have my gallbladder out in August (4 months after my surgery). I can't tell you how much better I felt after that! It was like night and day.
Can you have it laproscopically? That way is by far the easiest to recover from. In the meantime, stay away from foods that bother - like dairy and spicy foods to avoid major gallbladder attacks. Those are no fun.
Good luck to ya!

I'm having pain on the right side and going for an ultrasound on Friday.... We will see what turns up. I'll keep you posted. Good luck with your surgery. It should be a piece of cake after the gastric bypass. My doctor told me I would only be off work 3 - 5 days if I had to have it out.

Hi Courtney,
I'm going through the exact same thing. I'm scheduled for surgery on Monday. I have to be opened up instead of the Laproscopic way. Unfortunate result of being open during RNY. I suggest to any newbies to take your Actigall. i hear the GB going bad is very common. Wish you the best of luck. I know the pain your in.

Courtney,
I had my surgery 4/28/04 and had my gallbladder removed on 9/28/04. I was so miserable up until it was removed. I didn't enjoy any eating, was always uncomfortable. It was difficult being back in the same hospital going through all the typical surgery procedures but now that the surgery is over I feel so much better. Now I wish I had had it removed sooner.
The surgery recovery wasn't anything compared to the by-pass. You will feel so much better.
