Hi Donna I am so sorry to hear that you will have to have another surgery, and so soon after this one (wls). My ultrasound for preop showed that I have stones in my GB but my surgeon said that if it doesn't cause any problems they leave it, HHHMMM?????? So when do you have problems??? I would have never known that I had them if I hadn't of had the ultrasound, crazy why some leave it in and some take it out. I wish you the best and pray for a quick recovery. Mechelle

Donna, I'm so sorry you'll be having another open surgery! I know gall stones are a very common side effect of losing weight as quickly as we do. I had mine removed 4 months after my RNY. I had mine done laproscopically so I can not tell you from personal experience about the recovery time for you. However, I have several friends who've had to have the open GB removal and their recovery time was about 6 weeks each. Most of them however say that they didn't fully recover for about 6 months. The incision they had was huge. Maybe they've perfected it more by now. That was several years ago. Come to think of it, it probably takes about 6 months to FULLY recover from any open surgery, right? That doesn't mean you won't be out and about, just take it easy. Don't push yourself. Get extra rest, etc. Sending good thoughts your way! Ronda
