I have lost steadily since my surgery 4/30. I haven't had a week go by I haven't lost at least a pound. I've lost 115 lbs. to date, but now it has stopped. It has been 2 weeks and the scale hasn't budged. I know about plateus and whatnot, but is there anything I can do to trigger it to start again? I'm getting a little frustrated. I have about 40 pounds to go to hit goal weight and before it felt like a piece of cake to get there, now it seems so far away! I'm just a little discouraged and am looking for a way to get it going again. Thanks! Lori

From what I've heard its totally normal for things to really slow down at 6 months out. Up the water/protein/exercise!!! Congrats on your loss so far! Thats really awesome!

I agree it sounds normal, but I would up the protien, water and exercise as well. Congratulations. Dianne

How much exercise do you guys do? I don't do much, really, now, and I know I should increase it, but I'm trying to just get a guide. My routine isn't like 3 times a week, 30 mins a time or anything. We have a farm, so it is cleaning the barn, loading hay, fixing fence, that sort of thing sort of sporadically. Might be every day, sometimes a couple days then until again. I'm trying to get a feel for other people's routines. How much protien do you guys get in, too? I still have a hard time getting it all in. Thanks for the good wishes, too! Sometimes it doesn't feel like I've lost much until people say it is good! Lori

Hi Lori, You got great advice from the people above and who am I...someone who was on a plateau for four weeks, but I finally broke it. For me it was changing up my exercise...now I already exercised regularly at least 3-5 times a week. However, I've been reading this book "Success Habits of WLS Patients" and it suggested I change my exercise routine. Guess what it worked...I'm the proud owner of a -8 lbs in four weeks. I know it isn't huge by some standards, but for me it is amazing. So if you are not exercising regularly...maybe you need to start. Since you work on a farm, how about just a regular walk...everyday a couple of laps around the barn. Good Luck,

I'm not exercising enough, but do a walking video 3 times a week for 15 minutes. As for protien (which I think is a huge factor) I get at least 70 g/day. On days I get even more (nuts for snacks) no carbs, etc. I have a bigger loss that week. I drink at least 68 oz. of water a day. Sometimes much more. Hang in there. Dianne

I do three fifteen minute walks a day with my puppy! 5:30am, come home from work about noon to walk again and then again at about 5:30pm. He needs it and so do I! Farm work is more rigorous than you're giving yourself credit for! (Former farm girl here!!!) Try stacking hay/straw bales for ten minutes a day. Move around a few feed sacks and sweep the grainery out. Regular chores like than count!
