Well I spent my day off in the hospital undergoing an Upper G.I and a lower bowel series, so see if I had a bowel obstruction. My doctor thinks I am not losing weight fast enough, and thought I might have an obstruction. I go there at 9 a.m, I drank the Barium at 9:45 a.m. and it too****il 2:30 p.m. for the barium to pass through my smaller intestine and reach my large intestine.... I am puzzeled why it took so long? I had had nothing to eat from Mid-night prior to the procedure.... The other problem I have been having is going 7-10 without a B.M and that is with taking a stool softner, and laxative?? Go Figure...Sorry if that is too much information for some... but I have been holding this vent for awhile. I have literally tried every suggestion under the sun. I am still working out 4-5 times a week, and getting in my protien daily& working on the water intake.... What an the Hell is wrong with me.... pray for me....PLEASE!! As of today... I have lost 70 pounds and 80 if I include the weight I lost a week before surgery, even though my surgeon states that doesn't count.

Hello Cheri, I am sorry you are having a hard time. I don't think anything is wrong with you because if something's wrong with you something is wrong with me too. I have lost only 65lbs but I am happy with it but I don't know if my doc will be happy I have my 6 month checkup in 2 weeks. Don't hold back when you are going through something. We are here to support each other always. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Jo Ann

i just read your profile, i think it's all of the exercise that your doing. like i know you've heard a million times muscle weighs more than fat. but as for my opinion i think i beat all slow losers. i think your doing great!! what is your dr. expecting? 70lbs since april that's darn good to me i'm still at just 56lbs at least from the last time i weighed which was i think 9/21. my sixth month chec-up is on the 21st of this month. so everyone is beatin me. what's wrong with me from 290 to 234 when last weighed. some people had surgery with me are in the hundreds now. go figure, yet i do thank God above for what he's blessed me with so far. but i think your doing great and i'm sure you look great with all that exercise your doing. keep up the good work!!! sorry about my venting. God bless on your continued success.

Hi I think that your weight loss is great. What did your Dr. say about the barium results? Have you tried CarbSense Hot Cereal? For me it has worked wonders on my bowel problem. I too could go days with out a BM, then I discovered this cereal, I can't live with out it. I think that I will have to eat it everyday until the day I die. Before I tried everything, stool softeners, Flax seed and others. You come here and vent anytime you want. We are all in the same boat together and it is nice having others to talk to who have had their surgery around the same time. Take care and I will keep you in my prayers. Mechelle

I hope that you and your surgeon will find out the results of your diagnostic x-rays soon and rule any question of bowel obstruction. I wouldn't despair about the weight loss at this point. The positive changes you've made in exercising and nutrition are very important to increasing your metabolism, while boosting your sense of well-being. I had surgery on April 10, 2004. Going from 250 lbs. to 193 lbs., (I've only lost 57 lbs.), but I've gone from a size 24 to a size 14 with exercise and changing my nutritional habits. I continue to work on my self-esteem, exercise, and nutrition. It took a lifetime of poor nutritional choices, poor self-esteem, and poor fitness habits to create the adult I became prior to my surgery; I expect it will take at least one year to reprogram the "new me" and maybe two years to make my new habits permanent. Be proud of your accomplishments! Take care of yourself. Remember each individual will experience his/her weight loss surgery differently from anyone else. Don't give up on yourself!

I feel that although you may have not achieve the goal you set for your self, 1lb is worth shouting over. I have went from a size 24 to a size 12 my anniversary for 6 months was Oct. 5th.

I'm sorry you are going through a hard time. I will say some prayers that you are ok. My Dr. had to give me a prescription laxative I take daily called Miralax. Nothing else worked. Hang in there. Dianne

I want to thank each and everyone of you for your heartfelt response. I appreciate your support, more than you will ever know. I won't find out the result of the test until Friday.... The one thing I did learn while watching the barium pass through, is that my system moves slow, and I will alway's have to work on keeping my water intake up. The Nurse even gave me additional water to drink, because it was moving so slow. Be encouraged in your journey.... and truly...truly....Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here for me..... Cheri

Sweetie, There are LOTS of us here in the April board who have "only" lost 70 lbs and their surgeons consider them a total success. If you're working your butt off then you will reap your rewards! This surgery won't fail you if you don't fail it. And it sounds like you are doing everything short of voodoo to make this work for you. I'll be praying for you and praying for every other patient of your surgeon. . .doesn't seem as though they are the very supportive type. One of the things I do to keep the plumbing active is I eat fruit every day. Applesauce, mandarin oranges, melon, apple (no skin), peach, etc. Keeps things flowing. I'll also choose popcorn as a snack - good fiber in that popcorn. PS - 80 lbs (because I DO count the 10 you lost pre-op) is NOTHING to sniff at, and far less to get the sniffles about, you're 20 away from the CENTURY CLUB SWEETIE!!!!!! You're doing FANTASTIC!!!! Its true that our tool is changing, and that it will be more challenging to lose from here out, but so what - you are SO much closer to your goals than you were 6 months ago. To sum up - I believe in you, I am proud of you, and I know in my heart that this process is going to work for you as LONG as you work for it. Bless your heart, ~Lara
