Numbness in feet and legs.....anyone else have this or know of someone who did??
Hi all you wonderful WLS people...I haven't posted regularly, but always drop in and read the updates and message boards.
I had my surgery April 1, 2004. Proud to say that I am down 86 pounds, last check was over 70 inches and 6 sizes. I am doing wonderfully and feeling the best I have in years. I have lost lots of my hair, but that doesnt distress me as much as some numbness in my lower extremities (calves) I went last week and had a folate, B-12 and CBC done, no results yet. I was wondering if any other postops have had these symptoms and what your doctor has said about it.
I am thousands of miles away from my bariatric surgeon so really need you help......(we are military currently living in Japan)
Thanks everyone and keep up the hard work......

I don't have any answers to your post, sorry. I just wanted to say congrats on your success thus far.
Could you find out if your surgeon has an email, and if he does you could stay in contact with him that way>> Just a suggestion.
Any way I hope you find out what is going on. When you do and if you want would you share it with us? Take care and have a great day (or is it night right now)

Hello Lori!
Congrats on such awesome success!
Good that you've had your bloodwork done.
I don't have this problem but a lady in my support group did, in her case her pannus (tummy apron) was hanging down and causing her nerves to be pinched. Get it checked out by a dr, as this could mean an insurance paid tummy tuck. (thinking best case scenario)
Hopeing for the best for you,
~Lara
I have been reading posts from other months just to get an idea of what to expect in my upcoming months. I, too, have experienced numbness in my lower legs and feet. I used to get it all the time when I lived in Vermont and just blamed it on the cold and caffeine (restricts blood flow). I will ask my doc on my next visit which should be sometime soon. I mostly get the numbness when I am exercising or when i am going to the bathroom and sit on the toilet for too long! silly, huh? If I get any answers, I will post them in the July 2004 messageboard.

Thanks for the responses...Strange thing happening. I only pray that it is just a deficiency related to my surgery and not something that can not be corrected. Will Update you if I ever find out anything.....have to wait until November to be see by the neurologist!!!
Thanks again and great to see everyone having so much success with this surgery......
Have a great long weekend....I know I will enjoy Monday off!!!
