well i've stopped comparing myself to others and started thinking hard about how much i SHOULD be losing.. i went to the weight loss planner on this site entered in my original weight and my goal to lose 80% of my excess weight, which will put me at about 150 lbs, still overweight for my size (should weigh 122 by the charts). I always said 150 lbs and i'd be thrilled, i started at 262. Soooooooooooo the point is.. although i always considered myself a slow loser i seem to be RIGHT on target as far as this weight loss planner goes. it says that by 6 months after surgery i should weigh 189 lbs.. well this morning on my scale i weighed 190... so i have a week to lose 1 pound and then i'll be exactly on schedule. I'm feeling pretty good about this, and feel like my goal of 150 is actually attainable, plus when i sat and thought about it, i'm more than 1/2 way there!!! I only have about 40 lbs left to lose.. seems pretty simple!! hope everyone is doing well !! ~Kim

Kim- Isn't that a cool tool? I did mine before- because I was wondering what my "surgery" weight loss goal was... it's still higher than I *want* but it shows me that my losses are better than I *thought* ... Makes you feel good! Beth

I went and did mine again, with my original surgery date weight... and here's what it said: "Your weight is 298 pounds. Your ideal body weight is 138 pounds. Thus, this means your "excess" weight is about 160 pounds. Bariatric surgery might help you lose 80% of this excess weight, meaning you might lose 128 pounds. If you lost 128 pounds, then you would end up weighing 170 pounds. 170 pounds would thus be your "goal weight" for bariatric surgery. " It also said the average loss is about 65% excess weight? I hope not! Even 80% lost only brings me to 170. I'd like to lose 90-100% of the excess... 138 lbs seems perfectly normal to me, I'd like to get there. It also showed me that I wouldn't hit 170 until 12-18 months out!! Yikes. Beth- ignoring the stats!! HW- 313 SW- 298 CW- 187 GW- 130

Beth, your new picture looks great ~~ you're so pretty!!! Pink must be your color. I've done the chart also and hope it doesn't take me that long to get to goal!!! My goal weight is 138 also (I'm 5'5") and this morning I'm 177 ~~ surgery was 4/14/04. I'm actually just a little ahead of schedule. I've lost 95 and want to hit 100 by my 6 mo anniv. We all need to remember they are just numbers. I feel so awesome now and have so much more energy. Everyone just keep up the good work!!!! Janie Lap RNY 4/14/2004 272/177/140?

I did it too, and I'm hoping to loose at least 85% of my fat which I'm right on track for according to the little chart. That would put me around 175 which is high but better than 200, ultimately I'd like to be 150, but who knows. The doctor told me to only expect 70% or 200 so I guess anything under 200 lbs is gravy.
